From its beginning, the UN addressed the world through the medium of posters. Heralding the call to disarmament, the demand for human rights, the plight of refugees, and countless other civic and humanitarian causes, the UNs posters are widely recognized for their bold design, artful composition and skillful rendering.
Including rare specimens from the organizations early daysincluding two posters produced the UNs predecessor organization, the League of Nationsthe book pictures prizewinners from various competitions and those adapted from work by such well-known artists as Norman Rockwell, Pablo Picasso, Hans Erni, Peter Max, and Robert Rauschenberg. Also included are biographies of select artists and a preface by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan.
