5.0 out of 5 stars The best comic strip out there, February 15, 2008

This review is from: For Better or For Worse: 2008 Day-to-Day Calendar (Calendar)
I have been following "For Better or Worse" ever since it first appeared. I can truly identify with the Patterson family, because we have a son Michael and a daughter Elizabeth who are about the same ages as the kids in the strip. There are many other very close similarities as well. I have often wondered if Lynn Johnston has found a way to look in on us to get her material. The fact that the comic progresses in real time is especially great. Do you realize how many decades Dennis the Menace has been five years old!?
This calendar has the strips for all of 2004 and starts out about the time Elly owned the book store and merchandise started to myteriously disappear. April is probably 12 or 13 years old, in middle school and trying to help hold the band together. There is so much wisdom and insight that surfaces throughout the series. Johnston is a genius for noting the subtleties and nuances of everyday family life and finding such great and familiar humor in it. Five stars any time, six if I could give it.

This review is from: For Better or For Worse: 2008 Day-to-Day Calendar (Calendar)
I have been a big fan of the For Better or For Worse comic strip for years, because it depicts real people in real situations - from birth to very aged. The calendar helps recall the highlights of a previous year, drawing both laughs and tears. It's a "must" for those who like their humor "human."
