Excelent book!,
By A Customer
This review is from: For Better, For Worse, Forever (Mass Market Paperback)
The book For Better, for Worse, Forever is such a good book! I recommend this book to every teenager and even to my teachers! I especially would like for my best friend Rachel to read this book, I know she would love it! The setting of this story is both New York and St. Croix in the Carribean duuring the summer time. The main conflict of this book is weather or not Aprils tumor will become active again and when and where she will die. The protagonist is April and the antagonist would be the brain tumor April has. I really sudgest that you go out and read this book!

For better, For worse, Forever by: Lurlene McDaniels Lurlene McDaniels is a young adult writer. She writes books about teen tragedy's and love stories. The books she writes are very touching. The book for better, For worse, Forever is about a girl named Mark and he had Cystic Fibrosis. Mark loved to drive racecars he just couldn't get enough of them. He loved them so much they killed him because of his sickness. April is heart broken from the death of Mark. After Marks death Aprils parents take her to the island of St. Croix. Her parents figure if she is not at home she will get over Marks death faster. While down in St. Croix April meets a handsome boy named Brandon! Brandon tries to get closer to April but she won't let him. April figures if she gets closer to Brandon, Mark won't forgive her for it. April starts getting sicker day by day, and starts to fall in love with Brandon. April in the end gets so sick she has to go back to New York. While in New York she visits all her friends and then after about a month she is so sick her doctor says she will die soon. April doesn't want to die in New York and wants to go back to St. Croix. The book is very good but if you want to know the end you have to read it for yourself.

This review is from: For Better, For Worse, Forever (Mass Market Paperback)
I read For Better, For Worst, Forever by Lurlene McDaniel for my book report. I loved this book. Lurlene McDaniel books I can't put down. I think this book was a really emotionl book. I liked the part when April was doing her ritual for Mark, her fiance, who died a while ago. Another part I liked was when April was spending time with Brandon. These are only a few good parts in this book. You need to read it to find out the rest. I would recommend this book to 13-15 year old girls.

In this book April Lancaster has left her home in New York City to go to St.Croix in the Caribbeans. Her family and April go so that April can get over her loss of her Fiance' Mark who had cystic fiborosis who fatally died from a race car wreck. During her vacation she meets Brandon Benidict. With Brandon in her life, together they help eachother overcome hurting memories in their pasts. Just as they were getting close, April's memories turn into a deadly reality. Her brain tumor has spread. With the help of Brandon she is finally at peace. I liked this book because of the way she put the past behind her.

Heart breaking,

I just got done with this book and it was absolutely one of the best books I could have ever read by lurlene McDaniel. She is one of the best authors. I read this book in one day and it made me cry so much. I burst into tears with this book. It was one of the greatest sequils to a book I could have ever read. I liked how brandon stuck by April the whole time even though she left him with out saying good bye when she went back to long Island (her home where she grew up) It was sad but yet it makes ya think about life and stuff. But it was amazing how some teen age boy who didn't even know a girl but a few months could care so much for her. I loved it.

Young, tragic love,
By VampireNovelFan "VampireNovelFan" (Washington, DC USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: For Better, For Worse, Forever (Mass Market Paperback)
I remember reading this book in middle school with my eyes glued to every page. It was a different experience for me because it introduced impending tragedy. This is a sequel to Til Death Do Us Part. The main character, April Lancaster, is terminally ill and mourning the death of her fiancée in the first book. Her family decides to take her on a vacation. There she meeds Brandon Benedict. They spend time helping each other heal from hurtful memories of their past. With April still in mourning, she can't so easily give her heart to Brandon. This complication last through the book but comes to a head at the conclusion. While utterly depressing, I think these types of books are valuable subject matter and thought provoking. This is a young adult series that gives teens a solid understanding of how fleeting life can be. It definitely makes you reflect on how lucky your life may be. I definitely recommend this read.

The continuation of Lurlene McDaniel's best story,
By A Customer
This review is from: For Better, For Worse, Forever (Mass Market Paperback)
After finishing Till Death Do Us Part, I loved that story so much I had to read For Better, for Worse, Forever. I finished this book in one day! This continuation of the story begins where Till Death Do Us Part ends, when April lets a balloon fly into the air as a dedication to Mark Gianni, the person she planned to marry but who died after a car accident. April spends months at St. Croix, where she meets another eighteen-year-old, Brandon Benedict. Both April and Brandon have many secrets and unfortunate events in the past years of their lives, and they share most of what is hurting them... all except the fact that April has an illness. They spend most of their time together, until April's headaches and vertigos return. She and her parents leave for New York immediately, without even telling Brandon goodbye face-to-face. Will they meet again while April still has the chance to tell the other person that she loves goodbye? Definitely read both this and Till Death Do Us Part, you won't regret it.

Romance between two deeply hurt teens,
By A Customer
This review is from: For Better, For Worse, Forever (Mass Market Paperback)
In this novel Lurlene McDaniel presents the affecting friendship between April and Brandon. Both of them have been hurt very deeply. Both in different ways. Together, however, they seem to win something essential back. The fun...Lurlene McDaniel is able to affect the reader emotionally by this book. However, I do not feel comfortable with the fact that both of the characters show self-pity. Both of them can be considered as being outsiders. They do not try to make more friends. I would describe April as being self-centred. Summing up I have to say that this book might be helpful for some people who suffer from severe illnesses. However, I feel that Lurlene McDaniel did not stress the fact enough that life is important. We cannot do, however, anything about our deaths. I cannot judge whether it is the right cure to read a book about fatal diseases when you are in such a situation yourself... |
