4.0 out of 5 stars Author uses two pen names
The text written in "Betting Baseball '09" was also used in prior
publication "The Ultimate Guide To Beating Baseball" written by
Joseph J. Tuttle. It's clear Joseph J. Tuttle and J. Frederick O'Leary
are the same author so no need to purchase both books. This reader
suggests buying "Betting Baseball '09".

2.0 out of 5 stars Betting Baseball '09: The Secrets That Professionals Won't Talk About, Until Now!
I'm assuming the author wrote at least half the reviews that are posted. The book is very weak. There are a couple of good ideas, but nothing that an average baseball fan can not figure out on their own. No real direction. For example he keeps telling us to scout pitchers and take notes, but doesn't tell us how to scout a pitcher. He wrote this book in about 2 days,...

I was very happy with the purchase of this book. JJTuttle introduced stats and info I never even thought of before. I liked how he came up with a rating system on a team and on pitchers. I would recomend this book to anyone wanting to bet Baseball. I'm looking forward to applying his theories for the upcomming season.

If you are thinking about wagering on baseball this should be the foundation for all of your wagers. The author has proven to me that he is an elite handicapper and is completely accessible should you have any questions for him.

4.0 out of 5 stars different books by the same author, April 10, 2009
This review is from: Betting Baseball '09: The Secrets That Professionals Won't Talk About, Until Now! (Paperback)
this is a pretty good book, i got it and this guy's other one the other day. read the other reviews for this, because this book is published under a couple of different titles. it's also only about 50 pages of baseball tips, about 15 of horses and 15 of blank pages for "notes." there are also a lot of mispelled words, and a time or two the author, who knows his real name, says stuff that makes no sense. he talks about [...], which was great, saying that he first used it in 2005 and then says in the same chapter that he has been with them for 7 years. overall not a bad buy or a bad book, a few good tips and that was what i was looking for, just wish i had not ordered two copies on accident, do yourself a favor and just buy one

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book for SERIOUS bettors, April 3, 2009
This review is from: Betting Baseball '09: The Secrets That Professionals Won't Talk About, Until Now! (Paperback)
I read this book within a two day span, and coming from someone who has more than 50 sports betting books , I can attest to its brilliant simplicity. My predominant focus is college basketball, but with the economy in the dumper I am going to give investing in baseball a look. The stats and formulas that are presented are cutting edge. They just make perfect sense. Buy the book if you bet on baseball!

Deciding where to start detailing the complete worthlessness of this book is a challenge. There are ZERO useable concepts or methods put forth. To say that it's poorly written is a disservice to all the other poorly written books in the world.

Never before have I felt so ripped off by an online purchase. The logic is cloudy; the writing style is annoying; the grammar, punctuation and spelling are atrocious; and the methodology is severly flawed and mind-numbingly disjointed.

Caveat emptor! This is a total waste of money that will not produce one positive element to use in your baseball handicapping.

If your way of finding the team to play usually end up with the favorite, you need to learn the Tuttle Way. Some of the reviews knock mr Tuttle because he don't back up everything with A lot of facts, I can give you a fact, you can play the favorite ever game an win most of them and still lose money. Today I took the over nine on the Yankees with CC pitching. Money line was +125 on the over. Last week I had Chicago White Sox +259 vs KC, these are the kind of winners you can get with the Tuttle way. I win more now and that is the only fact I need.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent theories, May 7, 2009
This review is from: Betting Baseball '09: The Secrets That Professionals Won't Talk About, Until Now! (Paperback)
Before I bought this book I was expecting to read another book that is filled with a hundred pages of thoughts with no clear direction. After reading this book I was actually able to create my very own methodology based off of the information contained in the book and even better - It actually works. In the past 5 days I've only lost once using what I was taught in the book. Overall, I believe this to be a great book with excellent time tested material. I am very satisfied from what I got out of the book and I recommend this book to anyone who may be wagering their own cash on baseball.
