The other reviews are wrong!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Betty Boop 5 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
One review said it had added sound effects and was a disc. It is NOT! This tape was ONLY released for VHS (don't quote me on that if they put it on DVD, though). The cartoons have nothing 'added' to them, either.
The other review said this VHS had Inki, Bosko and Daffy cartoons, which is (obviously) wrong. Every cartoon on this VHS is starring BETTY BOOP! So, since those other reviews are both incorrect, I'll tell you what is ACTUALLY on the VHS: BETTY BOOP'S CRAZY INVENTIONS ***** Great! This is a great Betty Boop cartoon. STOPPING THE SHOW **** Plotless, but still good. THE LIMITED * Forgettable. One of the lesser Boop cartoons. A LANGUAGE ALL MY OWN * This is also bad. I hate this cartoon. KEEP IN STYLE ** It's OK, but this VHS only gets going when the Grampy cartoons start. MAKING STARS ** If you like Betty Boop, this is NOT your cartoon. It's actually all about babies, even though Betty Boop IS in it. THE NEW DEAL SHOW ** Ho hum. A SONG A DAY **** Yay! The Grampy cartoons start! This time, Betty and Grampy try to cheer up a bunch of animals. BETTY BOOP AND GRAMPY ***** This one is great. One of the best Betty Boop shorts. GRAMPY'S INDOOR OUTING ***** If you thought it couldn't get better than the last one, think again. The inventions are even BETTER this time around. BE HUMAN ** Good message, bad cartoon. HOUSE CLEANING BLUES **** Great use of rotoscope, but most of the gags are merely mediocre. THE IMPRACTICAL JOKER ***** The best cartoons on this tape! A wonderfully directed cartoon, I was on the floor laughing. THE CANDID CANDIDATE ** When Betty Boop runs for president, it always ends up kind of corny. SERVICE WITH A SMILE **** Great, but what else is new? ZULA HULA *** Pretty good. Not a great finale, though. A wonderfully curated tape, by Mr. Jerry Beck, himself.

MORE WEIRD CARTOONS,
By SALVADOR FORTUNY MIRO (TARRAGONA ( SPAIN ), TARRAGONA Spain) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Weird Cartoons 2 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Another excellent compilation of rare cartoons . In this tape :two more Fleischers' cartoons , " Small Fry " and the surreal " Betty Boop's crazy inventions " ; one Chuck Jones from the early forties " Inki and the Minah bird " ; one of the best Duffy Duck's from the second world war period , by Frank Tashlin who would work later with Jerry Lewis directing him in some of his best films ; one silent Walt Disney , " Alice the toreador " ; Pat Sullivan's " Felix the catin non-stop fright " ; one of the first Looney Toons fromthe serie " Bosko " and the jevell of this compilation , a short with animated puppets by Charlie Bowers , a master of stop-motion animation of the early era of the cinema . The only problem of the tape is that some of the prints are not of very good quality . Anyway , I recomend it very much.

Not Politically Correct! (That's a good thing),
By A Customer
Overall the cartoons on this disk are good, definitely not PC.I do have a few complaints though: 1) The video quality is fairly poor on many cartoons, I'm sure this is mostly because of the age of the cartoons. I suppose this is fairly acceptable. 2) The "feel the sound" fake surround is terrible and annoying. I had to turn off my prologic/AC3 processor and subwoofer just to make it tolerable. For the most part an OK disk. Valuable from a historical/political standpoint. |
