What is a 3-2-1 cake? If you take one box of Betty Crocker Angel Food Cake mix and mix it (dry mix) with any other favorite cake mix. I like chocolate and lemon, but have used red velvet and white cake too. NOTE: I would avoid carrot cake mix as it has things in it that need more moisture. Then take 3 Tablespoons of the combined mix and mix it with 2 Tablespoons of water and microwave the mix for 1 minute in a mug you have cake!

It's delicious and a super easy way to have individual servings of 'cake' on hand to top with a scoop of ice cream for dessert. *You can also mix in things like chocolate chips for variation.

Of course the mix itself makes delicious angel food cake too. Perfect for a light strawberry shortcake or similar.

This is the best mix I've found, averaging two dollars a box locally, I sometimes find this 12 pack deal is better. I grab it up around the holidays to make 3-2-1 cake gifts for friends and family.

My favorite use is to add a 20oz can of crushed pineapple to the mix and bake in a 9x12 pan -- not super pretty, but so easy and tastes great.

I've just compared the Betty Crocker mix to the Duncan Hines version Duncan Hines Angel Food Cake Mix, 16-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6) (the two that are available in my grocery stores) and I have to say, on taste, the Duncan Hines beats this hands down. DH is more almondy and the BC is quite flavorless in comparison. That said, the BC whips up higher, and bakes up higher, making a slightly larger cake, but it also gets large air bubbles, comes out uneven, and is difficult to cut. You also have to scoop the batter into the pan as it won't pour. The DH batter will pour in and doesn't whip so high, the cake is more uniform, and easier to cut for some reason. This, in addition to the even texture and superior taste of the DH makes it the winner.

I spent several days trying recipes for angel food cake from scratch, separating out and whipping egg whites, sifting confectioners sugar, sifting flour, adding vanilla extract, etc. We did 2 different recipes, then a batch of cupcakes using Betty Crocker cake mix, and Betty Crocker was the best. Wow, what a time saver. I still don't know how they did it, and how the mix could be better but it was. All the kids at my daughter's 3rd birthday - 30 of them gobbled them down fast. I put a small pool of fudge icing in middle on top with sprinkles for decoration. I was worried a little, as each cupcake looked different and not identical at all, but kids didn't seem to mind. It melts in your mouth! Delicious mix. Now I know not to waste my time with home-made. Other moms advised me of this before saying they use cake mixes, but I didn't understand until now.

I made this for a BBQ last year and it was great. I haven't tried to make it homemade, but looking at the recipes I see that you need 12 egg whites... which would be tedious and expensive. Why waste time and money when the cake mix does the job? Amazon has this at a great price too, I think one box is about $2 at the stores where I live.

I bought a case of the Betty Crocker Angel Food Cake on Amazon.com grocery. The price was cheap, the shipping was free, and the cake is easy to make (you just add 1 1/4 cups of water to the mix). What more could you want for a fat free snack? Right after I take the cake out of the oven, I like to put it upside down on a wine bottle (just like my mother used to do!) and pull off and nibble little hunks of the sweet crust part while it cools. Sigh!

This is a fast and easy way to make an angel food cake and all you have to add is water. It makes a great tasting angel food cake that has no fat or cholesterol. It is a great dessert and it has the quality of Betty Crocker behind it. One slice does have 32 grams of carbohydrates and 23 grams of sugar.

It is fast and easy to make and your family or guests will like it a lot. I have attached two photos and one is of the nutrition data.

Great Cake. It bakes up very nice. Just add water and use a electric beater and whip it up till it is real nice and smooth and just put it in the pan and bake. That is all to it and is really good.
