5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the other Celebrate Book!
I looked at both Celebrate by Sheila Lukins and the BC Celebrate book and I chose the Betty Crocker. It has more family type of recipes that would be appealing to both adults and children. The Lukins book is good for adults only. It had many, many recipes there's no way you'd get a kid to eat. I also like the BC one better because it had decoration suggestions, table...

3.0 out of 5 stars Mostly semi homemade recipes
If you like semi homemade recipes, than this book is great. Most recipes call for cake mixes, canned biscuits, canned frostings, etc. The book is very pretty to look through, and has lots of great photos, but the recipes are mainly for beginners. If your into homemade cooking than I would recommend Celebrate by Shiela Lukins.

The Lukins book is good for adults only. It had many, many recipes there's no way you'd get a kid to eat. I also like the BC one better because it had decoration suggestions, table settings, etc that were more doable and cost effective. I like both books but if you have kids you have to go with the Betty Crocker Celebrate book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Mediocre book, sorry., December 13, 2008

The seller of this book did any excellent job in packing and shipping, but the book itself is nothing special.
For example, for Easter?, it gives a recipe for "special mashed potatoes"! What's special about them? They used the basics; potatoes, milk, butter, salt and pepper.
I like Betty Crocker cook books, but save your money. You can do better than this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes planning a party easy, April 26, 2007
This review is from: Betty Crocker Celebrate!: A Year-Round Guide to Holiday Food and Fun (Hardcover)
This cook book includes lots of pictures (I think one for each recipe) and is separated into chapters for each holiday. It inludes ideas for complete holiday celebrations, from drinks to desert to center pieces and decorations. The ideas are cute and unique. I think adults and kids will have fun with the ideas in this book. I am planning on following the recipe plan for Cinco de Mayo!

I have used this cookbook over and over with great success. The recipes are easy to follow and turn out wonderfully every time. All dishes that I have prepared were delicious and received rave reviews from my dinner guests. I highly recommend this cookbook for anyone; the recipes are great for holidays or everyday cooking. And, the recipes are grouped by holiday to help you plan an excellent and well-balanced menu.

5.0 out of 5 stars Feel good book, April 22, 2008

This is a very sweet book. An odd way to describe a cookbook, but that's the way it struck me. It includes holidays that are usually skipped by most books-Chinese New Year, Passover, Kwanzaa. There are small, easy projects and decorative crafts, and the photos are beautiful. The strawberry/cream Santa figures on the cover brought a smile to my face. The recipes are not particularly difficult, and there is a nice assortment of cakes, cookies, treats and full meals to choose from. What else can I say? I like it.

I wound up returning this after receiving it. The cover looked old and worn and looking through the recipes I didn't see anything good. I was hoping for some good Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas recipes, but there really wasn't anything good for the holidays.
