...then this is the cookbook for you! Okay, so it's not my nature to argue with the editors over at Betty Crocker. I own many Betty Crocker cookbooks, and some of them rank as favorites in my rather extensive cookbook collection. Unfortunately, I think this one is lacking.

Unlike the two other cupcake cookbooks I purchased at the same time (Crazy About Cupcakes and 125 Best Cupcake Recipes), there are very few "from scratch" recipes in this cookbook. It is mainly augmentations of cake mixes. While I appreciate the Sandra Lee-esque ease of this, it's just not my preference. This is not to say there aren't appealing ideas in this book -- but I think many of us could "invent" these without a cookbook.

I do think that there are several good decorating ideas here -- especially for kids -- which is what warrants at least 3 stars. The photos are great, and I feel like I could replicate many of the decorating ideas. I will take these ideas and apply them to the recipes I have in the other two cupcake cookbooks.

I love cupcakes. I think they're an easy way to make dessert, prepare a gift, or just have fun. This book has a lot of cute ideas on how to decorate them beyond the usual frosting and sprinkles. It has suggestions for everything, from kids' parties to weddings, from the whimsical to the elegant, and for all seasons and holidays. If you're looking for inspiration on how to decorate your cupcakes, this is a great book to flip through. The ideas are simple and easy to make. And if you need further instruction (or if, like me, you're inept with a pastry bag), you can go to [...]. In the baking section there are videos that can teach you the basics. Happy decorating!

I don't like using box cake mixes for anything so I was extremely disappointed in how many recipes used them. Granted, perhaps I should have guessed because the cookbook was from Betty Crocker ... but they make many items. There are some things I can make using this cookbook but there are so many good cupcake books out there now, this is probably not the one I would grab first. If you like it easy and fast and out of a box, then you'll enjoy this one. I didn't.

This is a great book for people who want more than chocolate and vanilla cupcakes in their life! There are some interesting combinations I am excited to try! I like the spiral-bound interior and the hard cover. It keeps the book in good shape and the pages are easy to turn and the book stays open.

I was in the library and saw this, so thought why not and checked it out. After looking through it, I immediately bought it. I've looked at other cupcake cookbooks and this is the best one I've seen. It's got easy - yummy - fun recipes. I love it!

I was hoping to see more decorations on cupcakes. But this is more like a cookbook with cake mix. There's still some good idea in there, but nothing new.

Like because recipes are with boxed mixes and also gives you homemade batter recipes. Easy to follow and creative. Simple enough designs to do at home. Most recipes are for 24 cupcakes. Could have included or shown how to scale down to 12 because just cutting recipe in half doesn't always work.

I got this for my friend's teenage daughter because he is just getting into baking. I also got her the Betty Crocker Cookie Book. Love the Betty Crocker recipes. It's especially good too because it has picture of how the mixing and shaping should look as you go along and also has handy helpful tips on baking. She loved all the different kinds of recipes in it, just for cupcakes.

I haven't really tried any of the cupcake recipes, only a frosting one, but there are lots of pictures in the book, great to get ideas! :)

I love this book. It's easy to find what you're looking for and the steps are easy to follow. I do, however, recommend Betty Crocker's sister book on cakes and cupcakes. You will find ALL of the cupcakes in this book as well as some ideas for cakes. This book is good if you're going through a cupcake phase, like me, ad it's a simple reference book to find the cupcake you need, with simple steps and easy recipes.
