This cookbook assumes you're cooking for 2 people, not a whole family, which is a rare and helpful treat. As with most Betty Crockers, it starts with the basics, and does not assume the cook knows esoteric cooking terms, basic cooking times, etc. Recipes are easy, clear, involve basic ingredients, and most have been real hits in my household. It's a marvelous choice for a beginning cook (male or female), especially someone who'll be cooking only for 1 or 2 people.

The downside is that Betty Crocker recipes can be on the bland side. Many dishes in here are really basic. I've pencilled in my personal adjustments, spicing things up here and there.

I got this book as an engagement gift a couple months ago, I've already tried several of the recipes. It has not only many great recipes, it also has really helpful tips. I've made the carrot cake and apple cake several times already and brought it to work. Everyone loves it.

I just bought this book a couple of weeks ago and have to say that it is the best cooking book I have ever seen so far. Me and my wife are cooking fanatics who like to spend time trying out new recipes all the time. Great recipes, easy to follow instructions and a lot of useful information. I strongly recommend it!

This was one of the best shower gifts that I recieved at my bridal shower! It's a perfect gift for a new bride or even those who have never cooked before. The recipes are so simple, and it even shows you defiantions of other cooking terms found in other cook books, that beginner cooks' wouldn't know. It is a great reference for new cooks! This cook book is so neat! Betty Crocker shows you each kitchen tool, and the def. This book also talks about dinner parties, and there is even a space to write "his" and "her" favorite recipes as well as other spaces. It also talks about having and dinner party and cooking for two, and different kinds, of rice, etc. This is def. one of the best gifts that you could give a new bride. Not only is it a wonderful cook book, it is also afforadobly priced for the public.

This cookbook is great. I received this book from my fiancée as a Christmas present. Not only does it have a wonderful variety of recipes, it also discusses basic concerns a new bride would have in her kitchen. Since I am marrying into a large family, I worry about how I will organize large get-togethers, especially the food. The book provides basic guidelines how you would handle these situations. It also helps you fill in the missing pieces to any dinner party (ie. Serving exotic beverages when guests show up? Snacking food? Dessert?)

Besides the entertaining aspect of being married, there are the everyday meals that need to be prepared. The instructions are easy to follow, and there a spaces in the book where you would write in your first dinner as a married couple, his favorite meal, your favorite meal.

This book is great. It is a great addition to any new kitchen.

What a nice gift this is to give to a couple just getting married and setting up a household. I've looked through it and found it to be very helpful and full of good basic recipes. I have always found the betty crocker cookbooks to be among the best. It's a great gift that every couple (or single person) could use.

Not only is this book a treasure trove of cooking information, the book contains excellent photographs and illustrations.

Best of all, the book is hardbound using sturdy pages. A rare find, even for the newer Betty Crocker cookbooks which have thin pages, so I can see the Bridal edition lasting a few years. Perhaps long enough to be passed along to a child when they marry or leave home.

The downside is most recipes are basic and not too zippy. As always, Betty Crocker shines with her baking recipes and tips.

I just bought this cookbook and it is the best! Recipes are good, clear and easy to follow. I recommend this to everybody, not just beginners.

I love to cook and also have a ton of cookbooks. My Mom bought me this book as a wedding gift. Although there are a lot of good recipes I find the tips that are strewn about the book to be the most helpful. There is a lot of pages dedicated to how to cook different cuts of meat, what are different types of vegetables, important items to have in your kitchen, and a whole lot of other fun tips. I think this a great book for a first time cook (like a newlywed couple) but I also think the veteran cook would enjoy to have such a well rounded cookbook. This one really covers all of the bases.

Perfect for a new bride or and old one ! Easy to read and understand. Beautifully illustrated ! I liked it so much I purchased the second one to have on hand for a future gift.
