For me, this cookbook had the perfect mix of oldtime favorites and new dishes, clear and helpful instructions, plus great pictures that gave me a good idea of what I was supposed to be aiming for.

I'd definitely recommend this cookbook to anyone in a situation similar to where I was -- I just never seemed to have the time or the patience for regular cooking, but still wanted to make nice meals. On the other hand, I don't know that this would be the best fit for say, a college student giving crock-pot cooking a try -- the dishes may be more elaborate or use more expensive ingredients than they're looking at.

I should have read the description more closely. It is 96 pages including index, etc. It is taller than Joy of Cooking but as skinny as the free blooklet you get when you buy a slow cooker, making it difficult to handle. The recipies look OK, nothing caught my fancy, but this book was NOT worth the money to buy. I have the Better Homes and Garden crocery cooker book and it is great. Perhaps as a first book it would be OK.

Most of the recipes are pretty good and at least worth trying. It provided nutrition information and nice substitution suggestions for each recipe, along with a section on meatless meals. I have found that everything seems to overcook for me, though I am not sure if that is a crock pot problem or not, however most of the things I have made taste pretty good. Just be warned, NOTHING will come out looking as good as it does in the pictures, and there are beautiful pictures for each recipe in this book, but experience tells me that meats, especially poultry, just doesn't come out like they show, and neither do vegetables; that is just the nature of slow cooking.

All in all, a great beginner's book, good information at the beginning about crock pot cooking, but I am ready to move on.

A lot of new good ideas. I mostly look for recipes on the internet but it's hard to find new ideas there, you have to know what you're looking for. This book has several really neat ones, layered several course dinners such as herbed chicken, sweet potatoes and stuffing which was a really big hit and so easy to do.

I like this book, being new to the crock pot scene I didnt have any real recipies and this book allowed me to try new things and start making great food.
My only qualm would be that it has a good amount of recipies that are out of the box and too different for my taste. The good recipies make up for it though.

The cookbook has a variety of easy to fix menu's.Menu's include chicken,turkey,pork,beef,sauces,soups and stews.The metric conversion chart is very helpful.Beware of the cook times.You should check your food abut an hour before the minimum reccomended cook time.

I wasn't impressed with this cookbook. That surprises me since I usually trust and rely on Betty Crocker cookbooks. This one gave many tasty and appealing recipes. Only problem was that they were very unusual. Not your typical selection of ingredients and taste combinations. I was hoping for everyday things you want to cook and being able to use the crock pot for it such as: Beef Stew, Chicken Soup, Chowder, Chili, Roasted Chicken, Pot Roast, Pork Roast, Baked Beans, Pea Soup, American Chop Suey (ground beef, macaroni, tomato sauce), various casseroles, etc. I have had the book for over a month and have not used one recipe and I don't plan on it.

I think this is a good book, but I'm not sure entirely. As I was looking through the book, I got to page 80 and the next page was page 66 AGAIN. Also, the table of contents said there were 88 pages in the book, but mine didn't have 88 pages, at least not 88 pages numbered consecutively. I think Quality Control was on lunch break when this book was assembled.

Very good for a young teen boy who is learning how to cook. It was his birthday gift.

This is a good book for a beginner. I found some useful information, but I would have liked more recipes for the experienced cook.
