I received this as a gift and was going to give it to my son. Then I looked at it and decided I could not give it away so am ordering one for him. Very easy to use, clear cut..shows what you need and then the recipe in a clear, concise format. Many helpful tips throughout the book. Don't be fooled by the title. I do not entertain much anymore but am enjoying the recipes. I highly recommend this book to anyone.

First off, if you haven't bought "Betty Crocker Cooking Basics" buy that one first. It has much simpler all-American meals in it than this one. You will probably find this book to be the most useful if you are putting on a party because it breaks down complete menus, prep-time timelines (ex: 2 days before the party do ____), entertaining tips, and decorating tips. It also has a fantastic section on estimating the food requirements of large groups of people.

I do think that this is a good guide for any kitchen (especially beginning cooks) because it has one of the most easy-to-read formats that I have found; it is full of lovely pictures, techniques, and nutritional info. The best plus, however, was probably the fact that you don't need to have 50 million ingredients to do the recipes.

Never do that again! This book will calm your troubled seas. From how to plan and organize to how to fold that napkin, it is all in here! No more white knuckles for me! Thanks Betty Crocker!

I do not even know where to begin; this book is amazing! It gives sample menus (COMPLETE MENU w/ decorating ideas even!!!) for different types of occasions/number of people and the recipes in the book are great- some cookbooks have recipes that are too difficult or too processed'ish (if you understand what I just said, this book is for YOU! HA) I am extremely culinarily-challenged but this book is an awesome reference for ANYTHING related to entertaining! Some of the recipes I use the most are the bruschetta (AWESOME!!), make ahead mashed potatoes, sesame green beans and the ice cream cake (what a GREAT IDEA!! Perfect for birthday parties!!). I know that I've rambled on a lot but all in all this book is GREAT- it gives you measures for the amount of food to have per person- it gives complete Thanksgiving and Christmas menus which is very helpful for someone like me that lives far from her mom (she would probably be my guidance for something like that otherwise). I am a person who LOVES the idea of entertaining but I'm kind of like a deer-in-the-headlights when it comes to everyone walking in the door- this book has wonderful ideas for how to greet your guests, what not to do, what to do, what you can do ahead, ways to decorate, etc. I use this book all the time- it's a god-send!!

My mom gave me this book for Christmas several years ago... and she continually tries to steal it. I finally bought her her own copy... and a couple for my friends too! Easy and quick recipes - and some ideas for entertaining.

This book is designed for entertaining, and it does a good job of covering the basics involved with being a good host. The great thing is that the recipes are simple to make and they are delicious! I highly recommend this book for any kitchen.

I had seen this book at a library and wanted it badly, but it was too expensive, then I saw it on Amazon and I knew I could have it.
It is more than a book, it is a how-to on entertaining and everyone
I know wants a copy.
