5.0 out of 5 stars Great Quick & Easy recipes!
This book has some really good, quick & easy recipes. I bought this book since I don't have a lot of time to do cooking when I get home from work & it's given me some really good meals. The meals are so easy to make, most only have about 6 or less ingredients. My mother saw my book, liked the recipes so I bought a copy for her. My husband has made several recipes as...

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok... not really that different.
This book was ok. It didn't have a lot of great new ideas for quick meals. And the things really do take longer than what the time says in the book.

My husband has made several recipes as well. He was impressed that the prep & cook time actually took 30 minutes or less & recipes are so easy!

A lot of the new recipe books contain funky recipes, but I loved this one because I would actually eat any in this book. Among some tasty recipes are Chicken Marsala, Thai Chicken Wraps, Skillet Chicken Parmigiana, One pot potatoes & chicken, Sloppy Joe rotini, Parmesan-Dijon Chicken, Five-layer mexican dip, Fiesta taco salad, Stove top lasagna, Southwest cheese and pasta, stuffed french toast, among many many others.

The neat thing about this book is that in the beginning of each section, it gives you some quick 1-Step ideas (for example - Poultry, it gives one step seasoning ideas such as italian seasoning, mesquite, cajun seasoning, etc.) that don't require an actual recipe.

Although this has many common meal ideas, many have a little twist that most of us wouldn't think of. The recipes are really quick & easy & delicious!

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't know where to start? This is the book for you!, March 17, 2006

I have read the other testimonies and I can understand where some are coming from. This book is not magic. It's not meant to be the end-all to other cookbooks. But, in my opinion, it's an important book to have if you are a beginner and/or just don't know how to make certain things that are pretty basic. I'm not a huge seafood eater but I think it's important to be well-rounded in your knowledge of basically everything, and this book does it well. Even if you don't eat meat, dairy, etc. this is the chance for you to expand your cooking abilities and substitute other stuff.

Which brings me to my concluding thought: This is just meant to help you start dinner. Sure, add seasoning, add sugar or salt or heck, even add a piece of fruit or two. It's a starting point that gives you the freedom to expand on. Also, the best part (to me) is that all the nutritional information is at the bottom, so you know what you are eating.

All in all, cookbooks can be pretty lame. This one is fun, easy and has pictures for many of the recipes! What more do you want? Alice from the Brady Bunch?

Mouthwatering pictures and easy to follow recipes make this a great book for my cookbook collection. If you don't have time to make a savory meal after work, just open this book! There are so many choices, even a special section for vegetarians! With colorful pictures, a complete index, and quick cooking tips, answering the question "what's for dinner?" may become more difficult to answer!

4.0 out of 5 stars Quick & Easy Cooking, April 28, 2006

Are you busy? Do you want to eat something other than fast food from a drive-thru? Well, this cookbook might be for you!

I picked up this book at my local library, and will be adding it to my collection. No, it is not Martha Stewart. But, included in this colorful cookbook are over 300 recipes to put dinner on the table in 30 minutes or less. Yes, the recipes do contain canned goods, frozen vegetables, and packaged side dishes. However, if you are looking for a quick meal with items from your freezer and pantry, give some recipes a try. Most of the recipes have full color photographs (a big bonus for any cookbook!), a spiral binding that easily lays flat, and information on prep time and bake time. Another thing that this book includes (which many cookbooks lack) is nutrient information including calories, fat grams, sodium, and Diet Exchanges.

Some of my family's favorites include: Ramen Stir-Fry, Countryside Pasta Toss, Orange Teriyaki Beef with Noodles, Easy Cheesy Vegetable Soup, Key Lime Fruit Salad, and Tex Mex Pizza. Enjoy!

I love this book! Everything is easy to make. Lots of the ingredients are food most people keep as staples. I also like that there are plenty of photos which is always a bonus in a cookbook. I think kids will like most of the recipes. This is a must have for any one who has a family to cook for.

I purchased this item as a gift for my sister, who has not cooked much before. She loves it. She made the recipe for the picture on the cover - skillet lasagne - and her boyfriend said it tasted like a meal from a restaurant. She is now excited to cook at home and trying more recipes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best Cookbook Ever!, January 26, 2005

I am the worst cook ever! My mom actually bought me this cookbook as a gift and it's the greatest! It has great, quick meals for people on the go and it's so easy for someone cooking impaired like myself. I've made a few meals and my boyfriend actually thought I went out and bought the food from a restaurant, he was so impressed.

I enjoyed this book [...]

This is a great gift idea for college student's who want great homecooked meals without spending a fortune. It's also great if you're someone who has never really cooked and would like to learn some great solid basics. I have a ton of cookbooks and recipe's, this is the best!
