5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read! November 14, 2011
By Apreil

Amazing. Elena realy makes you love the characters right from the first page of this short story. it was so powerful that it had me laughing out loud at times, and sobbing uncontrollably at others. I finished this book in one sitting and even reread the last chapter an hour later when I couldn't stop thinking about it! This is one of those stories that I will remember for a long, long time. I can't wait to see what Elena writes next :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Read this story April 2, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I loved this story. I became interested because of the other reviews, and I was careful to not read this in public. Yes, it's emotional, even though the ending is telegraphed in advance. That's my only quibble with this story - I wish the ending had been a bit more of a surprise to me as well as to the character. I have already told my friends to download this story. This one is a keeper.

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read this beautiful short story while waiting by the gate for my flight to leave. I shouldn't have chosen that moment to read it. I became teary. it's very touching, sweet and conveys the power of friendship that is closer than most family relationships. Bravo to the author for telling such a compelling story in so few words. I'm looking forward to reading her novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautifully written short story December 14, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This story captured me from the start and kept me mesmerized throughout. A tale of love, devotion and selflessness between two friends, it will have you chuckling and crying in the space of just a few pages. Anyone who has lived through, or helped someone live through, the nightmare that is cancer will reflect on their own triumphs and tragedies while immersed in this story. I highly recommend this book to the fighters and survivors, the nurturers and helpers and the rest of us who may become one, the other or both some day.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wish it were a bit longer! December 26, 2011

I can't complain because this story was a great story and it was free! I was a bit surprised at how short it was. My kindle was only at 60-something percent when the story was over. It did also include a preview of "Nothing Stays in Vegas" which seems like it might be pretty good from the first chapter.
I will definately look for more novels by this author!

5.0 out of 5 stars A touching story that I'm glad I read December 10, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read this book two weeks ago and I still get worked up when I think about it. This is a book to read by yourself unless you don't mind getting emotional in public. I also suggest that you have lots of tissues handy. I'm glad it was offered for free ( even though it's definitely worth paying money for) because otherwise I might have missed out on a really terrific story. My emotions were caught up from the very beginning; these two women seemed real to me right away. These two women are best friends in the truest sense of the words And I'm sure you will care about them as much as I did. This story has stayed with me even though I've read lots of other books I strongly reccommend that you read this story; you'll be glad you did.

More About the Author

Like a lot of my readers, I'm a busy mom. It often feels like life is pulling us in a million different directions, which is why I love to write romance!
There's nothing better than knowing you have an escape waiting for you at the end of a long day in the form of a good book.

I'm lucky enough to live in the shadow of the Canadian Rocky Mountains in the foothills of Alberta, where I can write the stories I love. Whenever I get the chance, I escape into those amazing mountains and I can usually be found sitting with my feet in the lake, working on my next book.

As well as contemporary romance novels, I also like to write women's fiction and my collection of stand alone novels are all part of the Escape Collection. I'm always trying something new, so stay tuned to see what's next!
