5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read! November 14, 2011

Amazing. Elena realy makes you love the characters right from the first page of this short story. it was so powerful that it had me laughing out loud at times, and sobbing uncontrollably at others. I finished this book in one sitting and even reread the last chapter an hour later when I couldn't stop thinking about it! This is one of those stories that I will remember for a long, long time. I can't wait to see what Elena writes next :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Read this story April 2, 2012

I loved this story. I became interested because of the other reviews, and I was careful to not read this in public. Yes, it's emotional, even though the ending is telegraphed in advance. That's my only quibble with this story - I wish the ending had been a bit more of a surprise to me as well as to the character. I have already told my friends to download this story. This one is a keeper.

Cute, sad, inspirational, way too short. Okay, it was listed as a short story, but I was surprised at how quickly the story ended. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Betty and Veronica
This book had me cheering and crying. So glad it was a short story, having dealt with both my parents being taken away too soon from cancer. Great read for anyone.

This short story was shorter than I would have liked but it got the point across. I have read two short stories by this author and enjoyed them both, Sugar Crush was more uplifting... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected!
I felt fooled when I reached the end of the story. The storyline was ok but it was not developed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent short story
Was an inventive way of sucking one into the heart wrenching story with humor. Then it told you the truth about the emotional roller coaster of breast cancer.

More About the Author

In no particular order, I am: a writer, a mother of twins, a swimmer, a wife, a volunteer, a runner, a friend, a triathlete, a daughter, a sister, a Brownie leader (recently retired), an auntie, a cyclist, employee and...

I'm trying to do it all and have it all because nobody said I couldn't. And even if they did, I probably wouldn't listen because I'm too busy.

I've been writing in one form or another since elementary school but although I always knew I wanted to be a writer when I grew up, instead I earned university degrees in Marketing and Psychology and writing got put on the back burner. After my twins were born I was buried in diaper changes, middle of the night feedings and mountains of laundry, so obviously it seemed like a logical time to start writing again. I guess it took me while to grow up.

I turned to non-fiction and became a regular contributor to local parenting magazines, published in four Chicken Soup for the Soul anthologies, and a compilation by Seal Press. It wasn't until 2005 that I tried my hand at writing fiction and wrote my first novel (at least since I was a kid). It's buried on my hard drive where it should be! And I just keep writing them. Nothing Stays In Vegas was the first novel that I've made available.

Besides my novels, you can read my work in:
Chicken Soup for the Brother and Sisters' Soul
Chicken Soup for the Runner's Soul
Chicken Soup for the Beach Lover's Soul
Chicken Soup: Christmas Magic
Chicken Soup: Hooked on Hockey
How to Put a Car Seat on a Camel
