I will have to come back later with a fuller review, but I've listened to this whole album twice now and I am just blown away. These so-called young soul and neo-soul singers should use this album as an educational tool to see how it's really done. This is one of the best albums I've heard all year regardless of genre (and I listen to all types of music). Betty Wright's voice is simply amazing and has lost none of the luster it had some nearly 40 years ago. You can call her the "Godmother of Neo-Soul." Buy this album! You won't be disappointed.

I wasn't sitting around all year saying,"when is Betty Wright coming out with a new album?" and neither was anybody else except Betty Wright and the Roots. I am so glad they did. Betty Wright:The Movie is simply one of the best of 2011. Her voice is incredible. I had forgotten how great of a singer she is. The Roots continue to show that R&B needs real instruments and real musicians. The album sounds as if Betty was standing there, singing in front of a live band. The song writing is so good. I was really transported back in time, not because it sounds old but because it sounds so good. Too many of our modern Soul/R&B acts spend so much time trying not to sound old that they miss out on sounding good. Thank you Betty Wright for making music that sounds good, it's kind of hard to find nowadays.

I love both Betty Wright and The Roots, but since I wasn't very fond of The Roots' collaberation with John Legend, I didn't hold much hope for this release. I couldn't have been more wrong. This album is FANTASIC. I downloaded it yesterday and I literally cannot stop playing it. I definitely recommend it for Betty Wright fans, Roots fans and any fan of real, authentic soul music.

Just bought this album, and I am loving it. It is a nice throwback to a time when the music was magical and made you feel a certain type of way. I don't even buy music anymore because I can't relate to the stuff that's played on the radio nowadays. This right here was an unexpected and a much needed pleasure. This is my first Betty Wright album even though I think she is a wonderful singer. This is just a nice CD to throw in and just let it ride for the weekend. Get it and enjoy ;-)

Betty Wright has been in the music industry for nearly 45 years with hits like "Girls, can't do what the guys do", "Clean Up Woman" and of course the classic song that I got my very first french kiss off of 1978's "Tonight Is The Night (Live)"

When I heard that she had teamed up with "The Roots" I was a lil skeptical cause I know "The Roots" are a Hip-Hop Band and the mistakes I've seen so many Old School artists do is let new school producers come in and make them sound like new school artists of today but NOT SO with Betty Wright.

"The Roots' kept her Old school sound and put just a dash of a new school spin on it which features guest artists like Snoop Dogg, Lil' Wayne & Lenny Williams but not enough to take away from the vintage essence of Betty Wright.

Betty Wright who I consider the "Queen of Southern Soul" Is an under-rated diva from Miami, FL who has always captured that blend of R&B/ Soul/ Blues and with this new cd entitled "Betty Wright: The Movie" she haven't missed a beat plus her vocals are still superb and can still hit those super high octave notes.

My personal favorites are "Real Woman","In the Middle Of The Game (Don't Change the Play)", "Surrender", "Tonight Again" & "Baby Come Back" but high-lite song is entitled "GO" where Betty wright is speaking against domestic abuse regardless if you are a Man or Woman no one deserves to be physically or verbally abused and if you are then you got to...GO!!

Betty Wright: The Movie: Is Grown folks music at it's finest. Music you WON'T hear on today's radio station but I feel it's time that Radio programmers need to take heed and start bumping "REAL" R&B music again.

I almost can't put into words how much I love this album. Every person I've played it for, regardless of their normal musical tastes has been blown away. There is SO much soul in every one of these songs. The music sounds familiar, but fresh all at the same time, and you can't help but move when you hear it. I've actually had to stop listening to it while I work, because I get completely sucked in and distracted from what I'm doing. And that generally doesn't happen after I've listened to an album as many times as I have this!

And the song Grapes on a Vine?? wow, wow, wow. Beyond amazing collaboration.

This project is drenched with soul. I have always been a fan of Betty Wright but OMG this collaboration is off the chain. I received it yesterday and played it over and over for about 5 hours. I have been a fan of The Roots since the callobo "Wake Up Everybody" with John Legend and this project is just as good. The days of the use of real instruments in recordings are not gone thanks to The Roots. The song writing on this project is stellar. Joss Stone's contribution is incredible, Lil Wayne a beast, Snoop Dog fierce. This project is a perfect example of a blend of old school R&B meets neo soul. As a 53 year old male that loves music this cd is fresh and feels sooo good!

Some CD's you listen to and only get lucky enough to maybe have 2 to 3 songs you really like but with Betty Wright and The Roots, you got to believe me when I say she put her Heart and Soul into every song.This is a must have, can't go wrong here. Thank You Betty Wright for allowing us into your world. Love You much!

On my...This is such a hot album!!! I have been waiting
for a collection of simple feel good rhythm and blues
contemporized music and it's all here. I have not heard
one bad track in this bunch. And that distinctive mother
wit voice Betty has is still intact. The lyrics are also
on point. I hope people who complain about the lack
of great r&b out there today find this great gem. I can
tell already, I'll playing it for a long time.

What a refreshing soul album, In the middle of the game and tonight again are my top pics. I love it.
