The first release from Richard Madigan showcasing a passion for life observation. Madigan’s music is rooted in a warm blend of rock and alt-folk guitar with authentically grounding lyrics. Madigan wrote, recorded, performed and produced all of the songs on "Between Black and White." The music, at its essence, is lo-fi styled; think unplugged. Basic not simple.

A dude I know in Raleigh lent me this cd. I was looking for some new stuff I hadn't heard. He gave me this and told me this artist had potential. I really liked the lyrics but I was a little miffed about the absence of a backing back. While all the tracks were strong, I would like to hear how good it would be with a full band. Its obvious this guy can write a good song, as well as a strong melody. Hopefully this is not the last we've heard from Mr. Madigan. Perhaps the future will bring him a full 4 or 5 piece combo and a new recording! If you haven't bought this yet, do it now. Maybe someday I will be able to say I knew about him before he made it big!!

I have a copy of Richard Madigans first EP (first appearance of the track "Owen and Chloe"). He is talented songwriter with bright, thought provoking lyrics. I especially liked the lyrics of "Lessons of a Ruinous War" (how often is the word "ruinous" used in a rock song ?!) I would recommend this CD.
