Seven short stories set in Saugatuck 1834 to 1985 show just how much the place changed in the intervening century and a half. The series begins with pioneer Mary Butler who gave birth to a daughter alone in the wilderness and concludes 150 years later with a couple moving into their new lakeside condominium. The ficitional Streeter/Goodwin family, central to the stories, embodies incidents and anecdotes from many residents and visitors who lived in and visited the area. The events and historical settings are authentic.
