5.0 out of 5 stars A superb book
For many years I have been searching for answers to who I am, where I come from, what is the purpose of my life and what would happen when I die. During this quest, I have read over 450 books published in the western world about research in this field.

Without any doubt, I would rank Between Death & Life by Dolores Cannon amongst my Top 3 favorite books. It...

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT HAPPY
I really couldn't force myself to read all of this book. The parts I did read, I found poorly written and shallow. To compare it to the books of Michael Newton is like comparing a grade-school composition to a post-graduate thesis. I think Ms. Cannon is on the right track, but she needs a lot more background in the field of psychology and hypnotherapy for starters. I...

It is well written and has helped me in getting many answers I was looking for. I highly recommend it to people who are in a similar quest as I am.

The books that I have read to date can be classified into five broad types. First types are books that are based on information provided by psychics or clairvoyants such as Edgar Cayce, Ross Peterson, Sylvia Brown etc. The second types are books written by people or mediums who have the extraordinary ability to communicate with the world beyond. This includes books such as Interview with an Angel, Messages from Michael, Talking to Heaven and Reaching to Heaven by James Van Praagh, books written by James Edward etc. Third type are books written totally by a directed force, commonly known as Automated Writing, where the source of its intelligence and the propellant which directs the pencil or typing keys is unperceivable by any of our five physical senses. These include books such as The World Before and A World Beyond by Ruth Montgomery. The fourth type are books based on information received from hypnosis sessions of thousands of individuals. Notable amongst these are Journey of the Souls and Destiny of the Souls by Michael Newton, Between Death and Life by Dolores Cannon, Past Lives Future Lives by Dr. Dr. Bruce Goldberg, Life between Life by Dr. Joel L. Whitton, Many Lives Many Mansions by Dr. Brian L. Weiss etc. The fifth type contains books written after extensive research on Near Death Experience (NDE) of American citizens. According to 1990 Gallup survey, 35% of people on verge of death experience NDE and over 8 million people in USA had NDE. Notable amongst this type are books written by Dr. Raymond Moody, Dr. Melvin Moarse, Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, Dr. George Ritchie, Kenneth Ring Ph.D., PMH Altwater, Craig R. Lundahl Ph.D (The Eternal Journey), Betty J. Eadie (Embraced by the Light) and Damion Brinkley's personal account of near death experience.

What was fascinating to me was the consistency of information presented by Dolores Cannon and all other authors on Purpose of Life, Laws of Karma and Reincarnation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book!, May 22, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Between Death & Life : - formerly - Conversations With a Spirit (Paperback)
This is one of the most encouraging books I've read in a long time. It's similar to Michael Newton's "Journey of Souls" but provides even more indepth information. It answers many questions that Christians often struggle with in dropping their lifetime concepts of "Hell" and "Damnation" and understanding how Jesus & salvation tie in with a "Reincarnationist" life view. This book definitely takes the fear out of death. I sent it to a friend of mine who is HIV positive, and it encouraged him so much and completely changed his outlook. It is an excellent book for the terminally ill.

5.0 out of 5 stars BETWEEN DEATH AND LIFE, September 21, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Between Death & Life : - formerly - Conversations With a Spirit (Paperback)
Formerly titled ~ Conversations with a spirit ~

Dolores has accumulated information about the death experience and what lies beyond through 16+ years of hypnotic research and past-life therapy. While reliving past-life experiences, hundreds of subjects reported the same memories when experiencing their death, the Spirit realm, and their rebirth. This book also explores: Guides and Guardian Angels, ghosts and poltergeists, planning your present lifetime and karmic relationships before your birth, the significance of "bad" lifetimes, perceptions of God and the devil, and much more.

I now no longer fear death after reading this book. What is hell? The book describes how it happens for some people and not for others, and HOW to get what YOU want at the end of THIS life. If you don't want Hell, it won't happen. How? Well... Read on...

This was another put everything else aside until the book is read type of experience. I have been concerned about some of these things for many years now. I have made adjustments in my life now that I know what the end will be like.

You can only enjoy life to the fullest if you have no fear of death. What that is worth to me is incalculable. This book put the pieces together.

This book really hit home for me, as well as many of my friends. It's like talking with a good friend, because it comfortably and clearly outlines our purpose in this life as a human, and our review of it in the afterlife. The dialogue simply takes a lot of the confusion, fears, and misconceptions out of living and 'dying'. How refreshing to have a chance to see the 'bigger picture'- it's like taking a breather from the daily grind.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wisdom and insights about death and the Interlife, February 21, 2008
This review is from: Between Death & Life : - formerly - Conversations With a Spirit (Paperback)
This book is a must read, along with Conversations with God and The Essenes, Children of the Light by Prentis. We get insights into the complex world of the Interlife. Insights that match with much of my own training in Clairvoyance and taking responsibility for what I create. Right-wing Christians, however, will not be able to relate. You pretty much have to accept the reality of reincarnation and karma. But the truths submitted here are profound and those who cannot relate can go back to the Bible. Agreed, not for everyone. But there is information here that is hard to find anywhere else. I described Cannon's description of the Akashic Records to a friend who taught at the Berkeley Psychic Institute and she stopped and looked at me and asked, how did you know that without going there? It matched her personal experience of going to the Records exactly. There is much more to the universe than we are told in church or at school. Are you advanced enough to be ready for these truths and this information? Not for the average person. But for the spiritually aware, a must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars From A Student and Friend of Dolores Cannon, April 6, 2005

Upon becoming a Hypnotherapist in 1995 I did a Past Life Regression on my daughter and wasn't receiving the answers I thought I should be getting. I was at a local Psychic Center telling some friends about this when out of no where off the book shelves flies 3 books into the floor.(no one was even near those shelves). Everyone looked at me and said there's your answers.

When I walked over to the books lying in the floor they were all by Author Dolores Cannon and one of the just happen to be this book, Between Death & Life. I bought all three books, took them home and started reading. I cant's say that at that time I believed everything that I read, but after my own experiences as a Hypnotherpaist over the past 10 years, I can honestly say today that the truth is the truth whether we like to hear it or not. I ahve since becoem a believer and I know for a fact things are not always what they seem to be.

In August of 2004 I was privileged to take a class where Dolores teaches her regression technique. Through this class I learned that I already have my own way of getting the same information Dolores does through her clients, just in a different way. Thanks to Dolores, her books and her teachings I am now in the process of publishing my own book, a CD and a cassette tape of a guided meditation for healing to help everyone access healing, knowledge and to resolve issues from present and past lives.

I can honestly say to anyone who is a non-believer, you must open your mind and heart to receive the truth and you must be ready for it. I know I wasn't at first, but when it happens to you it's a whole different story. Have a regression done for yourself and see what transpires. What do you have to loose?

Thank you Dolores and God Bless You!

5.0 out of 5 stars Do yourself a favor and read this book!, March 25, 2004

This review is from: Between Death & Life : - formerly - Conversations With a Spirit (Paperback)
I've read many books of this nature on my quest and this is, by far, one of the best. I've been taught to use discernment and so, do not accept everything or even much of what I read and hear but this rang of truth and authenticity. Even though I believe I knew most of what was in the book, I felt as if I had just been given a "textbook" or guidebook to keep around for reference. And comfort. This book is a gift.

5.0 out of 5 stars Credibility, April 4, 2009
This review is from: Between Death & Life : - formerly - Conversations With a Spirit (Paperback)
Having been on a spiritual quest since a near death experience in 2001, I have read all sorts of books in hopes of finding answers to the many questions I had concerning that experience. Personally, I find those individuals who write about clients that have undergone regressive hypnosis highly credible. I was very impressed with the work Dr. Michael Newton described in his books Journey of Souls, and Destiny of Souls. I had never heard of Dolores Cannon or any of her books until I went into a spiritual store in Lake City, Florida. There on a shelf was a book by her that caught my eye. After reading the outside and a few paragraphs inside of it I was hooked. I always look to compare what different sources have to say about the same subjects. Let me assure you that what is contained in this book is highly credible in my humble opinion and matches up with what many other sources I have researched have said about life after death. In fact I no longer even use the term death. I prefer to say transitioned when referring to someone who is not physically with us on planet earth any longer. Keep an open mind and enjoy the read, for this writer does have a way of clearly describing her sessions in a way that will be easy to understand.

Dolores Cannon is an incredible author! Her hypnotic technique is outstanding and unique. This book provided me with the details and knowledge I have been searching for. A bridge between my christian faith and the spiritual. I highly recommend this book to those who have lost loved ones, to those who are in the process of losing loved ones and to those who are seeking comfort. Reading this book will provide you with an insight that will provide peace within yourself. Thank you Dolores.
