This is one of those emotional reads that make you feel good at the HEA......,
By KayLovesToRead (Canada) - See all my reviews Silhouette Desire # 1599 - August 2004 Man Talk themed series Callie married her childhood best friend and when he died from a land mind explosion, she was devastated and sank herself into a dark hole. Brock served with Rob in the marines, and though he too was injured by that land mind, he can't help the feelings of survivor guilt. He promised Rob that he wouldn't let Callie become a hermit and now he's healed enough from his wounds to check up on her. What he finds is a woman in so much pain she can't seem to wake before 2 in the afternoon. Slowly he forces her back into the world; awakening in both of them feelings they aren't prepared for. The Man Talk series are stories written from the male point of view. I love these! Brock is a vulnerable ex-marine who struggles with his guilt for surviving and causing Callie to lose her childhood sweetheart. Callie comes to see in Brock another choice in her life and realizes that though she loved Rob with all her heart that love can come again. This is one of those emotional reads that make you feel good at the HEA. I've been collecting the Man Talk series because I just love getting into the heads of these wonderful Heroes. This is my first from Ms. Banks, and I'm very much looking forward to reading more from her. Her hero, in Brock, was very well written.

BASE STORY LINE EXCELLENT!,

This review is from: Between Duty and Desire (Silhouette Desire: Man Talk) (Mass Market Paperback)
The base story line of the injured Marine, Brock Armstrong still living while Staff Sergeant Rob Newton, his buddy did not make it after a mine explosion tugs on the emotions of the reader.
Rob's last request was for his wife, Callie, "Don't let her crawl back in her hole and hide. Don't let her be a hermit!" preyed on Brock's mind. He feels guilty when his body responds to a strong attraction to her. He practically knew all about her from listening to Rob and may have been half in love with her before he even met her. The story develops wonderfully along with their increase interest in helping each other heal. But despite their feelings of guilt they eventually give to their [or should I say her] hormones. [Too much for me]Sex is used as a cure-all? Wonderful story - excellently written - just too much. --M
