Book Description

February 22, 2005 A
The spiritual/healing path comes complete with its pitfalls and pratfalls, its pity parties and power trips, its puns and poetry, its problems and paradoxes. Dr. Stew experiences them all on his journey from his head to his heart, and shares them with wit and wisdom, inspiration and irreverence. This warm and honest travelogue will be an inspiration to anyone who knows their thoughts often get in the way of their dreams. Dr. Stew lives his dream inside and outside his chiropractic practice. The principles of Life are the beacon on his long, strange trip, and are the thread that holds it all together. Barely. . .

About the Author

An internationally acclaimed speaker and teacher, Dr. Stew Bittman has lived in Lake Tahoe for over 25 years. It is here that he has slowly recovered from his over-educated, uneventful mid-baby boom New York City upbringing and lives the life he always dreamed about. He has a deep love for the land, discovering God in the many flowering meadows and sun-kissed mountain lakes.

His reverence for Life extends to all humans on this planet, as well, and his mission is to empower one person at a time thru chiropractic. Dr. Stew has left no stone unturned on his own journey to facilitate each person’s healing of themselves by rediscovering their own true nature and the doctor within.

Safe Haven Chiropractic is a healing center based on a donation-only system allowing all to achieve wellness. Stew has helped thousands of individuals and families to embrace their gifts, pursue their dreams and find the peace and wholeness (health) that already reside within. Additionally, he has traveled the world teaching the chiropractic principle, and has participated in six chiropractic missions to Central America, bringing that principle to life.

Stew’s wife, Hillary, would like to add, "I think Stew would say that he is proud of what he’s accomplished: a chiropractic practice that has literally changed the lives of thousands; a family that is very close and loving and that enjoys doing everything together; a balanced life which allows him to serve, to share his gifts and to live his dream. His mother-in-law thinks he is an angel. And, lest you think he sounds like a saint, I assure you that he is at least as full of schmootz as anybody else."

Dr. Bittman's unique writing style is a pleasure in itself. I feel I'm a better person for reading this book. It make's me feel allright about makeing a few mistakes and asking a few questions in my quest for truth. A modern day philosopher with a great sense of humor. 5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible book!, January 31, 2005

This review is from: Between Heaven and A Hard Place (Paperback)
Dr. Stew's humor, introspection, honesty, and insights were exciting and inspirational! He has an intimate way of writing --you feel like you're hearing from a good friend. I especially appreciate how he takes you through his thought process. He doesn't just serve up his insights -- he shows you how he got there and in doing so takes you along for the ride. And what a ride! Dr. Stew's stream of consciousness and creativity are amazing and wonderful!

When I'm reading a really good book, not only can't I put it down, but I want to highlight phrases, thoughts, expressions, etc. worth remembering. Well, with this book, not only couldn't I put it down -- I highlighted practically everything!!!!

I have read this book three times! And each time different things have either caught my attention, tickled my funnybone, and/or touched my heart. It's an incredible book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dr. Stew tells it like it is... it's real life!, January 18, 2005
This review is from: Between Heaven and A Hard Place (Paperback)
Dr. Stew Bittman, gives you real life experiences for you to better your life! I laughed... I cried... I even say, "What did he mean by that?" But through the entire book, I was learning. In between what he is living, Dr. Stew gives you short and positive, what I call "Stewisms". Yes, they are powerful bits of "trusiums" which stay with you. These "Stewisms", they change your life, because you remember them, and the next time something comes up in your life... well, there is a I felt, from the very first words, I had found a friend! And I did!
