Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Mathias Sanders and lifetime friend and high-school classmate Randolph Mason conspire to make their children fall in love. Mason deploys his son, Jake, to Lamar, Alabama, to supervise the acquisition of Sanders's newspaper for Mason Publishing, now the largest black-owned publishing company in the country. As Jake tries to prove himself to his successful father, he falls for Eleanor, Sanders's daughter and the managing editor of the paper. The couple's attraction-repulsion seesawing becomes tedious after a while, so the reader's delight in their eventual union ebbs before they actually commit to each other. Benson (Holiday Cheer, LJ 11/15/95) also conveys only a muted cultural authenticity in the book.?MKC

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable Read, September 5, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Between the Lines (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
I enjoyed "Between the Lines" as I do all the Angela Benson novels I have read. It was a lighthearted, easy to read, nicely moving, and sometimes hilarious story. I particularly enjoyed the by-play with the two old friends. I thought that the new relationship between Eleanor and Jake's friends was a trifle overdone (though given the degree of animosity which existed, probably deservedly so). All in all a good read, I thought.

Between the lines was very fun to read. I almost read the whole book at one time. What a romance story.
