5.0 out of 5 stars Another SAW act gets the deluxe treatment--with a couple of duets with Kylie Minogue
So glad to see the Stock Aitken Waterman productions from the late 80s are finally being brought to CD with major releases. As with the recent Rick Astley reissues and several other SAW artists, extremely bubble gum dance pop singer Jason Donovan gets the 2-disc deluxe treatment with essentially every 12" mix, remix and singles as bonus tracks spread across 2-discs--a...

3.0 out of 5 stars Oh, Wow. I Remember This Guy.
Thanks to his multiplatinum debut, "Ten Good Reasons," Australia's Jason Donovan was the UK's biggest selling pop star of 1989. The former soap heartthrob's 1990 followup, "Between the Lines," didn't quite set the charts on fire like its predecessor, but it's an agreeable collection of easygoing pop tunes written and produced by Stock Aitken Waterman (who are also...

So glad to see the Stock Aitken Waterman productions from the late 80s are finally being brought to CD with major releases. As with the recent Rick Astley reissues and several other SAW artists, extremely bubble gum dance pop singer Jason Donovan gets the 2-disc deluxe treatment with essentially every 12" mix, remix and singles as bonus tracks spread across 2-discs--a majority of which have never been on CD before. And the sound quality is superb with great attention given to crystal clear mastering. Between the Lines, surprisingly and thankfully, sticks with the same synthpop dance sounds of Donovan's first album instead of going for that more house sound that SAW dabbled in as the 90s moved in. This album is essentially just an extension of Ten Good Reasons, and equally infectious pop.

No doubt this is not PINK FLOYD!But sometimes you just want to dance and sing along to nice, fresh and colourful pop tunes, just to feel free and happy...This album was produced by STOCK AITKEN and WATERMAN.Combined with a great production team, good artist image, good promotion and radio airplay this album was a big hit for JASON in 1989.Great pop songs like:"WHEN YOU COME BACK TO ME", "HANG ON TO YOUR LOVE" or "ANOTHER NIGHT".Life can be...colourful...

Thanks to his multiplatinum debut, "Ten Good Reasons," Australia's Jason Donovan was the UK's biggest selling pop star of 1989. The former soap heartthrob's 1990 followup, "Between the Lines," didn't quite set the charts on fire like its predecessor, but it's an agreeable collection of easygoing pop tunes written and produced by Stock Aitken Waterman (who are also responsible for Jason's debut). Like Kylie and most of the SAW camp, Jason can barely carry a note in a Prada bag, but the songs are extremely catchy and the hooks are strong enough to sink the Titanic. The singles "Hang On to Your Love," "Another Night," and "I'm Doin' Fine" (a transparent rip off the Beatles), pass the time well. But the album's one great song is the near-brilliant breakup tune "When it's All Over." Unfortunately, by the end of 1990, Stock Aitken Waterman's popularity declined, and as a result, so did Jason's. Still, this is a decent trip down memory lane from one of the UK's biggest entertainers of its era.
