3.0 out of 5 stars So-so
I bought this book after reading Snap Happy, which I absolutely loved. Unfortunately it didn't live up to my expectations. There were too many characters and got confusing in certain places. You end up not really feeling sorry for Odette, and not really understanding why she fell in love with a Class A jerk in the first place, and why he has such a hold on her. Odette's...

I love Fiona Walker and her quirky characters however I found myself very frustrated with Odette. She was just totally unbelievable. I wanted to shout at her she was so feeble. Couple of times I almost put the book down as it was driving me mad but I hung in there.
It ended up a pretty good book but nothing compared to her others. Do read it you will enjoy it.

You end up not really feeling sorry for Odette, and not really understanding why she fell in love with a Class A jerk in the first place, and why he has such a hold on her. Odette's character seems a little shallow, whereas Juno and Jay, in Snap Happy, were well fleshed out. Still, the book improves in later parts.

4.0 out of 5 stars Between males, January 10, 2005
This review is from: Between Males (Paperback)
I loved this book, it was a great read with a fantastic plot. Being a huge Fiona Walker fan, I didn't find this book as good as her others. But the great plots the indepth charactors and the fantastic settings were all there.
I was let down mostly by Odette, I found I couldn't relate to her as I could with other of Walkers heroins, such as Ellen from Lots of love. Odette seemed very self centered and I seemed to get more wrapped up in other charactors such as Jimmy, who I absolutly loved, he was one of those charactors you really wanted to meet in real life. But don't let this put you off, read Between males, it is a super read.

2.0 out of 5 stars four odd stars for oddette, July 5, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Between Males (Hardcover)
If you want to know what happens to Phoebe and Saskia (French Kiss) Juno, Jay, Lydia, Finlay, Mungo,...(Snap Happy) and Odette this is the book for you. It culminates in an exceptional conceptional showdown of grand proportion. Even gay Mungo is not left out(how this can happen you have to read for youself).

Why four stars ? It is a good read, I devoured it, but kind of distanced. Odettes struggle from loathing herself to self-respect didn't get to me as Juno's had. I missed the self-irony.

Maybe I missed the suspense most, in Snap Happy Juno and Jay have a hillarious beginning and lots of suspense in between and one of the best snap happy endings in fiction I've read. In Between Males you have to read the end to find happiness.

Still I enjoyed this book very much.
