Dissapointed once again,

Why only two? Because of the incoherent screaming placed unstrategically where it just isn't mean to go. But on the plus side, not every song on this album has screaming, therefore not every song sucks. I liked "There Only Is" until the middle 15 seconds of screaming, then I was laughing my ass off again. Good lyrics, good music, even good singing. I think these "emo" bands should be engineering their songs to allow the screaming to either;A. Make sense in the placement within the song (Or ask yourselves, "Does it make sense to scream at this point? Or are we screaming just for the sake of trying to identify with teen angst?" In other words, try crafting your song to make sense. Shatterday was a great example of that. Perfect anthem song. I'm going to keep my ears on this band. Potential for stronger albums in the future.

I'm getting deja vu.,

Well, let me star off by saying I've been a long time fan of both Vendetta Red and the members' other previous bands. This album was a let down for me. ALL of the songs are from previous albums, and some are even from previous bands; this is at LEAST the fifth release of "Por Vida." Also, most of the tunes are a lot more poppy and a lot less powerful - I never thought screaming could be such a poppy thing. For example, "Lipstick Tourniquets" has a much less effective and simpler bassline than before, Zach sings the verses an octave up from other recordings (which makes it sound poppy), and the screaming just seems much more commercialized as far as placement. The ONLY song on this album I was slightly happy with was "P.S. Love the Black," because the second chorus has this screaming thing that was only in the first version released in '98 (I think) and a few other cool things were added / changed back. So, overall, if you've been a long time fan you might be let down. However, all of the songs on here are (or at least were) solid, and I still think they are a great band. Hopefully next album will show that a bit more, have NEW tunes, and be recorded a bit better (ouch, that bass is weak).

An Awesome Band that can only get Better,

Do not be fooled by Shatterday. In my opinion that is the worst song on the album. But when I listened to this cd the first time around, I believed it to be the best. It took me a full three cd listens before I even started to like them. "There Only Is" was the song that struck me first (and is also the first on the cd). This great cd might not knock you off your socks the first time around, but if you stick with it, it will become your favorite cd, as it is mine!

Great Album by a Great Band,

I first heard of Vendetta Red when my band opened up for them in 2001. They blew me away, and I've been a fan ever since. Their first two albums are awesome, and this one is no exception. Some of the song from the first two albums are on this one, but with a fuller, better produced sound. There isn't a single song on it that doesn't rock. Zach is one of the best songwriters, along side Davey Havok(afi), out there and this cd really showcases that.

Scream or no scream?,

I love this CD. There's not a single track I don't like. However, if you don't like screaming bands, if you're one of those people that says "How much talent does it take to scream? I can't even understand him!" Then you probably won't like it. I normally don't like screamers. But the way Zack does it... it's inbetween melody and the things he's singing about are just so emotional that when he screams you know it's not an "I'm cool" scream. It's emotional without being angsty. And they're amazing live. I saw them last night. So... It's kind of safe to say that if you don't like scream then it's probably safe to say that you won't like it. If you don't mind, you'll love it.

Promising major label debut for an awesome band,

this album is a great addition to any rock lovers' cd collection. every song is great from beginning to end. the guitars roar, circle and sweep, the drums pound and sooth, and the bass pops and bounces and to top it off are zach davidsons' abstract, surreal, lyrics adding up to one sweet sound. the opener is emo-ish, while "Opiate Summer", "Caught you like a cold" and "Por Vida" are rockers that grind and burn "Shatterday" is a huge singalong anthem, "Accident sex" and "Ambulance Chaser" are slow, building up before exploding. "Suicide party" and "Lipstick tourniquets" remind me of the late At The Drive-in. the worst song in my opinion is the last one, but it's real easy to skip

New Fave. Band,

Vendetta Red, the Seattle-based rock band has just released Between The Never And The Now, their first world-wide release. This CD fits with the styles and likings of the Warped Tour crowd, who listen to The Used and The Ataris. The whole album has a unique style and sound that is very distinguishable. "Shatterday" is the quintessential first single, that appeals to everyone. The surprise hit will most definitely be "Opiate Summer," the rock world's version of a love song; regardless the song will end up on repeat. The college world meets Seattle sound on this CD, which creates a completely unique feel. This will not be the last heard from Vendetta Red.

this might be the worst cd ive ever heard. why do all the songs sound the same? light guitar and almost whispering to heavy guitar and screaming hmmm where have i heard this before? oh i got it every rock band out right now. for people thinking of buying this cd just go beat a cat it will produce the same noise as the lead singer for a lot less money.

this album is good, if you know what you are getting yourself into. on this site, vendetta red is associated with mars volta, one of my all time favorite bands. if you like bands like them, cave in, autumn to ashes, this is the wrong cd--run. iwas very dissapointed--esp.by shatterday, which everyone seems to think is soo good. if you love every band you saw at the warped tour (including good charlotte) this is a good buy.

Not your typical emo band.,
This review is from: Between The Never And The Now (Audio CD)
Before you write them off as another whiny emo band.. give Vendetta Red a few listens, and you'll soon discover that there's a very talented band hidden under Vendetta Red's emo exterior. Vendetta Red proves that they are extremely versatile, by displaying several different types of rock throughout the cd. Greater than the prodigious guitar work, and the pounding drums, is the bone chilling voice of Zach. Never have I seen this much passion in such a young band. Another outstanding feature that Vendetta Red upholds is their ability to write deep, emotional lyrics in every song. For a versatile, passionate, freshman cd, that will make your hair stand on end, purchase Vendetta Red's; Between the Never and the Now. You won't be disapointed..
