"Between Ocean and Bay - A Celebration of the Eastern Shore" is a new book by author/photographer Jim Clark. It is a photographic narrative of the natural beauty of the Delmarva Peninsula (the area of land consisting of Delaware and parts of Maryland and Virginia that is surrounded by water on three sides). Continuing in his style from his two previous books "West Virginia - The Allegheny Highlands" and "Mountain Memories - An Appalachian Sense of Place", Jim shares his passion and love of the wildlife and landscapes of the this area. The reader will feel as though Jim is walking them on a field trip and describing each bird, mammal, insect, and flower encountered through the eye and heart of an experienced naturalist. The hundreds of thousands of tourists who visit the Eastern Shore each year would benefit from bringing this book with them and finding these wildlife refuges and secluded locations, which Jim has photographed, to see their own special moments with nature. Highly recommended!!

I have known Jim and his books for a long time. They have always been excellent, heartfelt examinations of the areas he loves. This new book takes his work to a new level. It really showcases a whole range of life along the Eastern Shore, offering glimpses into this area that only a true naturalist can offer, and the photography is that of an artist who has truly mastered the medium. Great work!

A wonderful book that captures the wild beauty of the Eastern Shore, which includes parts of Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. I especially enjoyed the photos from such famous national wildlife refuges as Chincoteague NWR and Blackwater NWR. As an added treat, the book carries a preface and a forward that were written by the former long-time refuge managers from each of those refuges. Definitely a seal of approval for the book.
