Joe Louis Walker is getting better with age. This cd and his last, Witness to the blues, are backed by Duke Robbilard and other former Roomful of Blues players. There is great soul, walking blues, and electric blues on this disc. There is really great playing, great tome, and just a fun vibe. If you are a fan of Joe, this is another cd for your collection.

Joe Luis Walker - As The Title Suggests,

Walker is a veteran blues man based out of San Francisco California. He has been around for years and released a bunch of albums in that time. His output has been inconsistent ranging from outstanding to some that were hard for me to get through. Fortunately his latest release "Between A Rock And The Blues" is one of his all time best. This album contains exactly what the title suggests. A mix of blues and rock that should be pleasing to the ears of fans of both genres. The opening track "I'm Tide" is a scorching rocker with some great guitar. Other highlights include "If There's a Heaven", "Blackjack" and "Send You Back". This album has been nominated for album of the year by the blues awards and it is easy to see why. Walker has put together a winner here that should be something that both fans of straight ahead blues and blues influenced rock can enjoy.
