Editorial Reviews

Review

"Absolutely delightful...I really enjoyed the hero and heroine in the story, and I just wanted to spend more time with them." - Romantic Love Books.com

From the Author

Politics, romance and Boston are some of my favorite things. Throw in a bit of action-adventure style intrigue and I couldn't resist writing this story. But most of all, these are characters who I wish were real so I could hang out in their witty, smart and noble circle of friends.

I've had this book on my Kindle for a few weeks now (loved the cover at first sight!) and finally got around to reading it. I can't believe I waited this long! The writing is excellent. The story smart, funny and poignant by turns, and totally engaging. More, please!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Read! December 12, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Wow, this book was simply amazing! Stephanie Queen delivered a thought-provoking political romance drama (whew, that was a mouth keyboard full) that kept me on the edge of of seat until the very end. Her characters were smart, witty, and they made you want to know more. The dialogue and plot flowed & built wonderfully and for me, there was never a lag & I was totally sucked in and loved it '

Madeline is a extremely smart (think prodigy) & beautiful Harvard professor who is running for the Governor of Massachusetts. You start the book as she looses her parties nomination for the Governor's race and you follow her as she plans to continue and follows through with her campaign. What unfolds is her struggle, as a woman, in running for such a powerful office. She not only has to face the same normal issues as her running mates but also has to fight extra hard to be accepted seriously and not just as a beautiful woman. The campaign takes on a tabloid feel and you get to see first hand her heartache & strong will as she battles to keep the issues, not her love life, in the forefront. Her opponent, Peter, is her biggest competitor and the man she once loved. She has deliberately distanced herself from him for the past six years and now she is forced to have him in her life. This makes her realize that maybe her love for him never ended - and that she wants another chance with him. However, someone wants to keep them apart and will use their past relationship against them and ruin both of their bids for Governor.

I tend to try and stay away from political campaigns because I feel that it becomes more like a three ring circus when it should be about what the candidate(s) can do for the community they are trying to represent. So, I was a little unsure as to whether I would like this story. However, Stephanie does an amazing job at taking us, the reader, behind the scenes to show us a little about what that candidate must go through and has to face day-to-day while campaigning. I was riveted! The twists, turns, surprises & the love story that resulted were outstanding and I can't wait to read more on this subject.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read! Politics and romance, what a combo! November 24, 2011

I love this story! Two smart, capable people running for office, and they have a mysterious past connection. Finding out what really happened between them will keep you turning page after page. Mad and Rock are highly believable as savvy politicians dealing with campaign staffers and their own passions. The sparks keep flying as they fight their mutual attraction, each trying to win the race for governor. Their staff people add to the fun. Politics may be the setting, but you'll be voting for love before it's over. This delightful romance provides a very satisfying ending. Don't miss this terrific read!

More About the Author

Once upon a time, there was a young story teller in the kingdom...er, queendom. Then she grew up and... er, no... she never actually did grow up. That's not to say she didn't get old, or more old, but not terribly old, more like middle-aged really. Okay, so she was no longer short and cute.
But really, I always did like to make up stories. Still do. Still live in my own little world--where I'm Queen. Of the Queendom. Hence, the name. (Or whence the name?) Oh, what's in a name anyway.
Now I'm sure you're wondering how I manage to live, but I assure you I am quite competent. Except I couldn't get the crown to actually sit on my head in the picture to the left.  Still learning...
Oh, about me. I love cats. I have a girl cat, a princess technically. Named Kitty. No, I'm serious. Long story. No, I don't have time. Or space.
Okay, so I do not have the inclination.
More about me. I spend hours, days, weeks, months (you get the picture) sitting at my desk, looking out the window of my castle/bedroom and writing complete fabrications in a romantic whimsical vein. Alright, if you insist, you can call the writing quirky. But I do keep myself amused.
Yes, it's true, and entirely believable, I do have a college degree. I'm not saying when I obtained said degree, however.  Go UConn!
Where do I live (for real) you ask? Among the picturesque lake-filled hills and dales (not sure what a dale is) of New Hampshire (the Granite State) (Live Free or Die) (Tough choice, but there's a lot of tough people around here).
What else do I do besides write presumably fabulous romantic stories with noble heroes and amazing, warm heroines who you want to be just like? As if that's not enough, I sometimes deign to teach, cook for the two gigantic very well-muscled sons and try to make sure Kitty doesn't take over the house while I'm away in the Queendom. (That's no joke.  The cat's a control freak.)
I actually have a very rich non-imaginary life. Right at the moment, however, I can't think for the life of me what else it's all about. Maybe I'll think more about it later and get back to you...
