4.0 out of 5 stars Dische for young people, September 28, 2007

This review is from: Between Two Seasons of Happiness (Paperback)
A heartbreaking yet beautiful story with a kind of happy end, masterfully written with young readers in mind (The novel won the Jugendliteraturpreis in Germany). Grandfather, father and son during Nazi regime in Europe, each one trying to protect his own world. The son's world spins around his father, a loving but mostly abscent bonvivant that lives far away in Berlin. As war progresses, all three worlds collapse, but the boy gets the chance to build a new one.

I highly recommend this book for young readers age 14 to 99. Readers under 18 will enjoy the novel if they are able to read through chapters which have little fisical action, i.e., the book is not for beginning readers just after playing wii.
