Smoooooth and satisfying,

This review is from: Between the Sheets (Audio CD)
I just love Fourplay, and this was the first CD of theirs that I acquired. To sum up this CD in four words ... sultry, sexy, soothing, and smooooth. These guys are the masters of smooth jazz and truly emphasize the super in super group. The arrangement on this CD is excellent. If you're like me and you enjoy jazz but can't take too much of a single instrument, Fourplay is the answer. Each individual talent is incredible but the sum of the parts is even better, with no one musician trying to steal the show. And if you're also like me in that you prefer instrumental jazz to vocals getting in the way, this CD is great for that as well. This CD is not 100% instrumental but the little bit of vocals you hear are subtle and quite complementary. Between the Sheets is extremely versatile as well. It can relax you after a stressful day, energize you for a morning of chores, get you humming in the car, help you fall asleep at night, and of course put you in the mood (I mean the title IS Between the Sheets). If you like jazz at all, this is a must-have.

If anything, even better than the debut album,
This review is from: Between the Sheets (Audio CD)
Fourplay create gorgeous dinner jazz, and this album is probably their pinnacle. Originally formed to showcase the talents of keyboards-meister Bob James and guitarissimo Lee Ritenour, this album also saw the other two other guys -- Harvey Mason and Nathan East -- coming forward as great songwriters. As per the debut, this is excellently recorded and better than any of the solo albums by Ritenour or James that I know.

I own three CD's by these guys and all of them are good, but the songs Chant, Monterey, Between The Sheets, Flying East, and Amoroso make this fabulous Foreplay!!! Their isn't a bad song on this one. Their music is relaxing and not boring. These fellows are excellent musicians!!!
