I just love Fourplay, and this was the first CD of theirs that I acquired. To sum up this CD in four words ... sultry, sexy, soothing, and smooooth. These guys are the masters of smooth jazz and truly emphasize the super in super group. The arrangement on this CD is excellent. If you're like me and you enjoy jazz but can't take too much of a single instrument, Fourplay is the answer. Each individual talent is incredible but the sum of the parts is even better, with no one musician trying to steal the show. And if you're also like me in that you prefer instrumental jazz to vocals getting in the way, this CD is great for that as well. This CD is not 100% instrumental but the little bit of vocals you hear are subtle and quite complementary. Between the Sheets is extremely versatile as well. It can relax you after a stressful day, energize you for a morning of chores, get you humming in the car, help you fall asleep at night, and of course put you in the mood (I mean the title IS Between the Sheets). If you like jazz at all, this is a must-have.

If anything, even better than the debut album,
This review is from: Between the Sheets (Audio CD)
Fourplay create gorgeous dinner jazz, and this album is probably their pinnacle. Originally formed to showcase the talents of keyboards-meister Bob James and guitarissimo Lee Ritenour, this album also saw the other two other guys -- Harvey Mason and Nathan East -- coming forward as great songwriters. As per the debut, this is excellently recorded and better than any of the solo albums by Ritenour or James that I know.

I own three CD's by these guys and all of them are good, but the songs Chant, Monterey, Between The Sheets, Flying East, and Amoroso make this fabulous Foreplay!!! Their isn't a bad song on this one. Their music is relaxing and not boring. These fellows are excellent musicians!!!

I just can't add much more to the fantastic reviews for this album. I have had this album for years and have always enjoyed the music. And to top this last night I was in the concert Live in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia with FOURPLAY and had an autographed CD 'X" (their latest release) to boot!!! And it was a blast when meeting them individually after the concert... A real honour to meet and entertained by these legends of Jazz !!! Absolutely Fantastic !!!

Simply superb. My clear fvourite Fourplay CD. I love the balance between control and spontaneity of expression - cp Bach. The last track is unbelievably good.

If one wants to set the mood for a romantic encounter, one cannot find a better musical fire starter than Fourplay's "Between the Sheets." The quartet of Bob James, Lee Ritenour, Nathan East, and Harvey Mason makes music that could relax and stimulate the most stoic of individuals. Not a wasted cue is here. Every song is highly effective with the title cut being a true standout.

Wonderful, enjoyable, spectacular, and every word synonymous with great. I love this CD so much for the smooth, magical, and powerful, impulses each track delivers. "Chant" and "Flyin East"-- Powerful. "Between the Sheets", "Amoroso", and "Once in the A.M."--beautiful magic. In essence, you can't overcompliment this album.

Balanced musical jazz progressions that both lift you up and chill you out at the same time. I use it during massage sessions as well as sunday morning me time. A good addition to any jazz collection.
