Kevin Devine has had a knack for straddling the line of multiple genres, making him hard to pigeonhole and tie down to one particular sound. The one thing that has always stood out for Devine are his lyrics, both introspective and poetic without the whine that accompanies many of his contemporaries. This album is no exception, though now Devine has created his most cohesive work yet. The stand out is "11-17," proving his emotional depth with accompanying beautiful sonic textures and heartbreaking lyrics to boot. By far, this is his best album yet.

Kevin Devine is a Lyrical Gansta whose creative flow of verse never ceases to amaze me. If you are not familiar with his work, buy this album. Then when you realize what you have been missing, buy his other works. And when you think it doesn't get any better, go see him live - your life will then be complete. Kevin is an incredible musician and performer and Between the Concrete and Clouds will be in rotation in my car until I get a chance to see him live in Boston in October.

I've been a Kevin fan for many years and it's so refreshing to see an artist that rarely disappoints (if ever in Kevin's case, honestly). This is another solid, well-put-together album and I can't take it off repeat. For me, the highlights include "Awake In The Dirt", "Sleepwalking Through My Life", "Between The Concrete & Clouds", "Wait Out The Wreck", and "I Used To Be Someone" but those are just to name a few. The entire album is a highlight in itself.

Thank you for everything, Kevin. You make it so easy to be a fan of you and your music.

Kevin Devine knows how to write a song, lyrically and musically. Always thought provoking and emotional. He really is a hidden gem in music as a whole. The only thing he does better than make albums is play live. Never miss a chance to see him. He's humble, kind and incredibly talented. Any artist that will play a long set then jump off the stage, walk through the crowd and sit at his merch booth to sell his stuff personally gets a lifetime pass in my book. Amazing artist, amazing man!

I've been listening to Kevin Devine for a long time and he just keeps getting better. This is another great album by him. If you haven't heard his music before check it out, he has a ton of music and you won't be disappointed at all. Also if you ever get the chance, check him out live. i've seen him twice and his shows are great, the live performances of these songs are amazing.

I have been a fan of Kevin Devine for a few years and own every album/single/EP he has put out. Hands down, this is the best one. If you listen to his discography in chronological order, you can hear just how much he has matured as a songwriter, but BtC&C still has the honesty and vulnerability as his earlier work, just with a more polished, fuller sound. I am surprised how relatively unknown he is, but I have a feeling this album will do amazing things.
