5.0 out of 5 stars An Unforgettable Tale of Tragedy & Triumph!, August 21, 2004
This review is from: Between Two Tigers: Testimonies of Vietnamese Christians (Paperback)
God's miraculous powers are often seen in the most desperate places on earth. One of those places is still North Vietnam where thousands of Christians are persecuted for their faith in Jesus Christ. This book is a powerful testimony to their unyielding faith and their triumph over the forces of evil all around them. They pray for their enemies with love and courage that no army can match! I couldn't put this book down until I finished the last page. It will touch your heart deeply.

4.0 out of 5 stars Touching Testimonies, September 15, 2011

This review is from: Between Two Tigers: Testimonies of Vietnamese Christians (Paperback)
Although the book is dated, the stories in this book are just as real today as when they were told. Christians in Vietnam still experience persecution by the Communist government, or at least what's left of Communism in Vietnam. Vietnam has government-sponsored "churches" which are often led by Communist party members and are used to control the people. Christianity in Vietnam exists and grows in numerous small house churches where Christians actually meet to pray, worship, and hear the Word. These house church believers are constantly harassed by the government, spied upon by fellow citizens, and their members and leaders imprisoned. In the face of this persecution, they still believe, still love, and still preach. The stories in this book are real, although somewhat difficult for Westerners to culturally understand. This is an inspiring and humbling book that will make you pray for the persecuted Church.

1.

You can find other books (equally informative and sincere) by Tom WHITE at persecution.com There are books by him set in other lands, as well as comparable books written by other authors. Once you ascertain the titles or authors, return to this Amazon window/tab in order to Wish-List them.

2.

Although not written by an evangelist (religious missionary), the book entitled "Deliver Us from Evil" (1956), written by Thomas Anthony DOOLEY III, M.D. (Dr Tom Dooley) has a physician/surgeon's perspective of the cruel effects of communism on the Vietnamese (not that Dow's napalm was kind). He also wrote about Laos in "The Edge of Tomorrow" and "The Night They Burned the Mountain". Since French Indochina included Laos, it's worth your while to delve further than Vietnam to see the extent of what has happened to once-autonomous kingdoms. Doctor Dooley prayed daily; otherwise I would not have mentioned him. In case Amazon's listings are currently unavailable, get what's gone via your local library, using the molasses-slow Interlibrary Loan (free or voluntary donation). Hope this helps.
