What can I say about this CD? Actually, I have a ton of things to say, but they don't allow words like that here. It's a shame that they don't negative ratings to choose from. I really like Faster Pussycat, and I THOUGHT I was buying a greatest hits CD...boy, was I wrong! Instead, what I got was a bunch of remixed songs, totally redone with synthesizers...even the voices were synthesized. In my opinion, these songs sound like a retarded robot is singing for a space-station dance club, and all the patrons need to be on a space drug to enjoy them. Remember KISS's "I Was Made For Loving You"? It already sounded like a dance tune, right? They even slaughtered this song! I only wish I had Real Player installed so I could have been able to hear samples from this CD. The ONLY positive thing on this CD is the unreleased demo "Blood." This song actually sounds like Faster Pussycat, and not some whacked-out space-alien punk/disco/dance/whatever that the rest of the songs sound like. If you want something different, then this CD is for you...if you're looking for their greatest hits CD (as I was), then DON'T buy this!

Pussycat Re-Mixed: Very cool,
By A Customer

If you have been following Taime with the Newlydeads, you will find this CD really fun. Old FP songs re-done in the contemporary Newlydeads sound. This is not a greatest hits album, it is a remix album. Don't be surprised that the songs sound nothing like the 80's glam era anthems.A few of the songs were no longer recognizable, so even unindustrialized I prefer, or at least am conditioned to like the originals. As with his Newlydeads albums, Taime has his hands all over this project. From the cover art to the music itself. There is even a disco classic covered for good measure!

Yes, although this album is Techno remix's of some great Faster jams. it is worth the buy. i just got to see them live and the Cat is better than ever. some people can't live without the same old tired version of "Bathroom Wall", but this version breathes new life into the glam classic. To my fellow reviewers take another listen, the album isn't like the rest of the silly Cleopatra remix albums. Taime really learned something from his tenure in the almighty Pigface. it's got twists and turns that you haven't heard yet. QUITE SIMPLY, LET GO OF THE EIGHTIES! LIVE IN THE NOW! FASTER FOREVER!

I can't really blame Taime Downe for trying some experimentation. Who wants to do the same thing over and over for the rest of their life?
BUT...he REALLY should have made it 100% clear that this was a remix, redo, whatever the h*** it is. That way, those of us who find nothing wrong with the original versions of these songs won't get duped into buying something that...well...is just really bad. I can't remember where I heard it, but someone once said (paraphrased), "After the songs go out into the world, they're not really yours anymore. They belong to all the people who listen to them and believe in them." If you enjoyed F.P. back in the day, you will probably feel insulted by this disc. It's almost like Taime Downe is calling you an idiot for liking these songs (in their original incarnations) and offering you something "better" or "cooler". He really needs to call his band something other than "Faster Pussycat" because this is NOT Faster Pussycat, nor is the band on the other recent albums. Man, I don't REMEMBER the last time I had this negative of a reaction to a record.

Yeah, It ain't old school FP, but it's still cool. I found it interesting to suddenly have new "versions" of the songs available, finding some of their older songs that I never liked or just couldn't really listen to anymore completely different and cool. I think it's worth a listen if you listen expecting something different. And BTW.... other FP guys were involved in the making of this album, it was a complete Taime invention. It's been near 20 years.... I'd have HOPED they'd have all changed musically by now.

False Advertising....Don't Be Fooled!!,

I was VERY excited to learn that Faster Pussycat was putting out a new CD, albeit one that featured largely previously-released material, "remixed" by group leader Taime Downe. I was in for a crashing disappointment. The songs here have NOT been remixed....they've been re-DONE entirely and not one of them resembles their original rendition. This is more on the order of Downe's post-Pussycat project, the gothic-aggro-techno outfit The Newlydeads and SHOULD have been advertised as such. Nowhere on the outside of the CD package does it let on that this is what you're in for when you shell out the bucks for this disc. What a cheat!Faster Pussycat's charmingly loose, sleazy glam metal ("Toys In The Attic"-era Aerosmith meets "Highway To Hell"-era AC/DC) all but disappears into the electronic bleeps and booming drum machines, burying the hooks and groove under an unlistenable static sludge. If you happen to be a Newlydeads fan, you may like this....but if you're expecting the Faster Pussycat of old, STAY FAR, FAR AWAY!!!

Wow! I've been a Faster Pussycat fan since Wake Me When Its Over came out back when I was but 12 years old. At first, I didnt even get Valley of the Ultra Pussy 'cause I thought it was just another greatist hits cd and i had all of those songs. When I found out that it was a remix cd, I went out and got it, only to be completely amazed. This cd is absolutely awesome! Taime has gone back and remixed the best old Pussycat songs and literally breathed new live into great music. Its kind of a mix between glam, techno, electronic, with a bit of industrial and goth thrown into the mix. I know some people dont like this, but I am blown away by this album. I think its the best FP cd yet. I just love the new version of House of Pain, so much darker and much more haunting, really does the song justice to hear it from this new view. Taime, you are a genius!!

Faster Pussycat - 'Between The Valley Of The Ultra P***y' (Cleopatra),

Not as bad as some fans or even critics have said it was. Certainly nothing special. I guess the remixes of Faster Pussycat staples like "Bathroom Wall", "Poison Ivy", their power ballad "House Of Pain", "Cathouse" (my personal PF favorite) and the band's Kelly Bundy tribute song "Slip Of The Tongue" are so-so but it does show us how [like many other artists] are simply trying to keep up with the times. Strictly for the completists and die-hard fans.

1st off, Taime Downe owns the name "Faster Pussycat" and will continue calling whatever backup musicians he works with by that name. Haven't you morons learned from Guns n Roses or even KISS? this isn't nothing new. To cry and complain that this isn't a 'greatest hits' album like you were "so duped into thinking" shows how some people don't pay attenion and will buy something just cuz of the name. Here's your first clue..NOWHERE on this disc does it say anything about it being a hits collection! After hair metal DIED when Kurt Cobain came along and put a flannel covered stake thru its spandexed heart, some of the bands and musicians MOVED ON WITH THEIR LIVES, Such as Mr.Downe. He liked experimenting with the electronica/dark wave/metal format(as evidenced by the track "catbash" on their 3rd lp, "Whipped")and wanted to continue to take the band into this new direction (also explored by Axl Rose on the track "My World" from 'Use your Illusion 2')but the rest of the pussys (hehehe) didn't get it, so they got canned. While this freedom let Taime go back and experiment with the original FP tracks, it was just a percursor to his new band, "The Newlydeads". Probably released for a contractual fulfillment, BTVOTUP, actaully shows the musical growth of a performer, producer and studio engineer. I like the original versions of these songs better, but I do own a copy of this for the sake of it being different. To me, as a person who likes to listen to more than just the same ol s***, This disc is highly recommended, if not for just the sampled use of Heart's "Barracuda" alone!
