* Between Worlds delves into the spirit of the Native American sound--both traditional and modern--capturing the essence of the Southwest, and of the people that have walked this powerful land. This is an album of deep listening experience, ambient spaces & textures, and haunting Native chants that inspire the real energy and visions of this sacred place to coalesce in the present.
* Both Erik Wøllo and Deborah Martin have repeatedly made various "best of the year" lists and have produced many acclaimed releases.

Excellent Stuff...,

An excellent album. Restrained, respectful and touching. There are times when you feel the music could really take off but it is intentionally held back by the artists and this is where much of it's beauty lies. Martin seems to take the themes of her albums very seriously never losing focus and this is yet another example. If you like this album you should try 'Tibet' by Martin and Gallagher. It's one of my favourite Spotted Peccary releases.

When I purchased this, I had never heard of Deborah Martin. However, I have to say I really enjoy listening to this album. There are samples of Native American vocals and rhythms that are mixed in nicely with the ambient music provided by the artists. A couple of the tunes have an almost 'Dead Can Dance' feel to them. I have a newborn baby boy and I would definitely listen to this around him (you can always tell a good album if it has this quality--in my opinion of course). Also, if you tend to like Erik Wollo's work (I own many of his albums), you will probably like this as well. Steve Roach also plays a small part so if you enjoyed Stream of Thought you will like some of the tracks. Overall, I would give this 5 stars.
