The PM 80 also lets you set individual training ranges, with an alarm that sounds when you exceed or fall under a specific heart rate zone, along with a "time-in-zone" function that tells you how long you've spent in, above, and below the training zone. And as with many of the more sophisticated heart rate monitors, the PM 80 comes with a PC interface and a handy software package, so you can analyze your workouts after the fact and easily plan new ones on your home computer or laptop. In the process, the PM 80 calculates both your calorie and fat consumption (in kcal and g respectively) and your basic and active metabolic rates (in kcal), putting even more data at your fingertips.
![]() The WM 80 includes an HR watch, a pedometer, and a diagnostic scale. |
The final item in the package is the BG 55 glass diagnostic scale, which transmits your current weight and body fat percentage to the pulse watch. The sleekly designed scale is far more sophisticated than traditional weight-only scales, as it not only reads your body weight and estimates your body fat, but it also calculates your body water, muscle percentage, basic calorie rate, and active metabolic rate. The information is displayed on an extra-large screen that simultaneously shows several values at once, along with a trend analysis that compares your current reading with the average of your last five readings. Other features of the scale include five activity levels, a 12.5-by-12.5-inch standing surface, a 330-pound capacity, and 10 built-in memory spaces.

Pleasantly surprised,

This review is from: Beurer WM 80 Weight Management System (PM 80 HRM Watch, PG 55 Diagnostic Scale, SB 02 SpeedBox) (Sports)
I've never bought anything by this company before, so I was a little worried about quality before it arrived. I need not have worried.
All three items have excellent fit and finish and appear to be made to last. I've had the watch, scale and foot-pod for about a month now and would buy it again without hesitation. The chest strap is comfortable as well as soft and pliable enough not to chafe or 'cut' into you while wearing it. Step onto the scale while holding the watch and chest-strap and the scale will measure your weight, body fat, base metabolic rate and more... and transmit the first two to the watch, so when you work out, it can more accurately track your calorie expenditure. When running or walking the foot-pod is apparently 97% accurate without calibrating it. Not bad. The software is quite easy to use too (it comes with a USB cable to connect watch and computer too!). My only [small] irritation was that the watch features are a lot to absorb at first, because the documentation is a bit thin on details. To be fair, the quick start paper that you begin with has you up and running in short order, its just that afterwards, when you want to know more, there isn't much more to discover.
