5.0 out of 5 stars THE RETURN OF DIAMOND HEAD (or: KILL 'EM ALL RE-REVISITED)
This is sheer perfection: Kill 'Em All all over again, i.e., Diamond Head all over again, i.e., the fastest, tightest, most enthusiastic cross between the very best of NWOBHM and good old American thrash. The hints of early Slayer, particularly evident in the opening notes of the first song, "Sinking the Blade," and the wailing guitars of the brilliant title track, are...

5.0 out of 5 stars THE RETURN OF DIAMOND HEAD (or: KILL 'EM ALL RE-REVISITED), October 15, 2008
This review is from: Beware the Circling Fin (EP) (Audio CD)
This is sheer perfection: Kill 'Em All all over again, i.e., Diamond Head all over again, i.e., the fastest, tightest, most enthusiastic cross between the very best of NWOBHM and good old American thrash. The hints of early Slayer, particularly evident in the opening notes of the first song, "Sinking the Blade," and the wailing guitars of the brilliant title track, are pure genius. Only four songs here, but they're worth every penny. Endless riffs, crushing solos, unpretentious production, and refreshingly honest vocals make this release an absolute gem.

4.0 out of 5 stars No school like the old school, May 10, 2010
This review is from: Beware the Circling Fin (EP) (Audio CD)
Beware the Circling Fin is the latest offering from the two-man retro metal act Early Man. Early Man fits right in the whole New Wave of Traditional Metal (NWOTM) scene that has blown up recently. Their sound is straight up Kill 'Em All era Metallica meets the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM).

With just four songs (and clocking in at 15 minutes), Beware the Circling Fin is a brief affair, but it feels like a long lost classic Neat Records 7". It's unabashedly retro in terms of style, vocals, and production. The title track is straight-up Diamond Head worship, but the remaining three tracks have a Metallica and Exciter feel.

Beware the Circling Fin is another old school metal blast from Early Man. I'd recommend it to fans of NWOTM bands like Wolf, Widow, White Wizzard and Holy Grail, as well as anyone looking for a return to the classic metal sound.

5.0 out of 5 stars Early Man destorys, July 1, 2009
This review is from: Beware the Circling Fin (EP) (Audio CD)
Dude, Early Man is one of the best heavy metal bands I have ever heard, and that's all eras 70s 80s 90s, stoner rock, whatever. They slay and they are really good songwriters. The title track here is a metal epic. watch out while driving down the road to this one. This EP will get you a speeding ticket (it's that good). thanks Early Mike, keep the rock chargin' on.
