Bewilderment,
By C. Be'erla hai-roi Myers "Christopher" (Philadelphia, PA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bewildered (MP3 Download)
First of all, James Brown (like Prince, and Ray Charles) is one of America's greatest pioneers in the music profession, capable of crossing various musical categories at will, while maintaining his same standard of excellence.
The song "Bewildered" expresses all the raw sentiment of being befuddled with the ins and outs of love. James selection of Do-wop to express this song (opposed to Jazz, Blues, or Rhythm and Blues) is a stroke of pure genius. His style of background vocal harmonies creates a haunting atmosphere of unshakeable memories as melodies, intertwining throughout his lyrical delivery of agonizing pain of a love gone awry is truly a heart-felt subpoena. "Bewildered" is a theatrical-like performance which is one of my most favorite jewels that represents the glory of a foregone era. - C. Be'erla hai-roi Myers |
