5.0 out of 5 stars INTRIGUING LOOK AT "BEWITCHED" & IT'S STARS!
Lots of great pictures of beloved cast and characters highlite this book which takes a nostalgic look at the much loved "Bewitched." 5.0 out of 5 stars INTRIGUING LOOK AT "BEWITCHED" & IT'S STARS!, June 14, 2007
This review is from: Bewitched Forever: 40th Anniversary Edition (Paperback)
Lots of great pictures of beloved cast and characters highlite this book which takes a nostalgic look at the much loved "Bewitched." Having grown up watching Samantha & Darrin's courtship, marriage, and the happy event of welcoming their first child, Tabitha to their happy home- "Bewitched" became in a sense my TV family. Samantha's mother, Endora (played wonderfully by legendary actress, Agnes Moorehead) became the thorn in son-in-law Darrin's side. Lots of great episodes of Endora casting kooky spells on Darrin (which she calls everything from Dorwood to whats-his-name!) became standard play in the mortal-witch household! Insights and info on everything from Elizabeth Montgomery's enjoyment of playing both housewife-witch Samantha to her naughty side of playing go-go-hippie chick, Cousin Serena! This charming book also contains all the wonderfully wacky relatives, neighbors, acquaintances, love-interests of both Samantha & Darrin, and those magically zapped-up characters from Tabitha's fairy tale books to Darrin's clients!

The TV show's director William Asher adds so much to the "behind the scenes" of the show and his memories of wife Elizabeth Montogomery playing America's sweetheart Samantha, is very enjoyable reading! This book is a MUST-OWN item for all the fans of "Bewitched" and it'd be GREAT to see more books (with color photos PLEASE!) in the near future! I know that every time that I've ever mentioned "Bewitched" in a conversation with someone, I always get the same response- "Bewitched!" Oh yeah, I loved that show!" To Dick York, Agnes Moorehead, Dick Sargent, and all the cast of "Bewitched" we love you and miss you very much! And especially Elizabeth Montgomery- "keep twitching that nose, sweetheart- for we can all still feel your magic!"

5.0 out of 5 stars THE Bewitched Bible, February 22, 2005
This review is from: Bewitched Forever: 40th Anniversary Edition (Paperback)
Though this review comes from my review of the previous edition, it still pertains to this new 40th Anniversary edition, which has a little bit about the upcoming movie.

If, ever, you have been watching 'Bewitched' and wondered just who is that pretty little witch with a twitch or who her party pooper of a husband is, or even if you do know (I'm assuming you read the credits at the first of the show) and you want to know more about them this book is THE definitive and extensive source for all things Bewitched. With tons of pictures and numerous interviews with the original cast all combined into a fun read Herbie J. Pilato brings all the magic of Bewitched to the written word. All 254 episodes are shared along with a small section devoted to Bewitched's little known spin-off Tabitha. This book is recommended to anyone who has ever fallen under the magic spell of Samantha and her family.

5.0 out of 5 stars "The Ultimate Fan Guide To TV's Greatest Supernatural Comedy", November 13, 2009

This review is from: Bewitched Forever: 40th Anniversary Edition (Paperback)
Like many classic television shows like "The Brady Bunch", "Three's Company", and "The Beverly Hillbillies", "Bewitched" was awarded its very own book back in the 1990's. Written by TV historian and ultimate "Bewitched" fan Herbi J. Pliato, "Bewitched Forever" (also known as "The Bewitched Book") is the ultimate book for fans of "Bewitched" and fans of classic TV sitcoms. Everything you've wanted to know about the show and its stars are on these pages. Herbi conducted some neat interviews with the series' stars before their untimely deaths such as Elizabeth Montgomery, Dick York, and Dick Seargent. Alice Ghostly is also interviewed along with Erin Murphy. There are behind-the-scenes stories, rare photographs, and the best part of this softcover book is a guide to "Bewitched'" entire episode lineup, complete with air dates, synopsis of each episode, along with a listing of each guest star. This beautiful book is long out of print, but your "Bewitched" collection is not complete without this informative read. Don't forget the entire series of "Bewitched" is available on DVD with the first two seasons in both color and black and white formats. Samantha Stevens would be proud! Thank you Herbi.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and Fresh!, February 28, 2005
This review is from: Bewitched Forever: 40th Anniversary Edition (Paperback)
From the author that inspired a renewed interest in Bewitched, and dozens of classic TV websites, comes this 40th Anniv. Edition of Bewitched Forever. Presented in a clean and crisp manner, I found it incredibly easy to look up whatever bit of data or trivia was interesting me at the moment.

Yes, there's a lot of Bewitched websites out there now, but there's nothing like curling up with a real honest-to-goodness book on a rainy or snowy day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Be Bewitched, April 22, 2005
This review is from: Bewitched Forever: 40th Anniversary Edition (Paperback)
As we await the release of the upcoming Bewitched movie, we have been enjoying great tie-in features. I have all the Bewitched books and can tell you that you should just stick to Bewitched Forever, Bewitched: Behind the Magic and Elizabeth Montgomery, A Bewitching Life. They are three great, fun spellbinding books. ALSO, you MUST get the Bewitched DVD's. And if you really want a complete Bewitched experience, go for the Tabitha DVD, too. All are available on Amazon at the best prices.

2.0 out of 5 stars Agree, February 26, 2005
This review is from: Bewitched Forever: 40th Anniversary Edition (Paperback)
This is the year of Bewitched. I received my third Bewitched book this month and am now posting reviews. Actually I had this book for a while, but never posted a review until now. After reading the review that complained about the book not really having a lot of actual show information, I had to go get mine and see just how many pages we were talking about. I hate to admit it but that review is correct. There are well over 225 pages devoted to an episode guide and cast and crew biographies but much less to actual show history. Maybe these were relevent years ago, but with the internet now boasting many Bewitched and television sitcom sites, all with episode guides, this does seem something of a rip off now. Without those two sections, this would have been a very small book. Also, I disagree that there are tons of photos. There are aa lot of photos, but nothing candid or really overly interesting. Most are promo shots. Of course when this book first came out 13 or 14 years ago, it was the only Bewitched item around. NOW it has been overshadowed by the internet sites and other works. I will always have a soft spot for Bewitched in my heart and am looking forward to the film and other related items.

2.0 out of 5 stars Same book, just another edition, February 13, 2005
This review is from: Bewitched Forever: 40th Anniversary Edition (Paperback)
I count among my pleasures the enjoyment of classic 1950's and 1960's sitcoms, with Bewitched being my favorite. This book is a lenghthy treatise on the show, but really doesn't say a whole lot. Much of the information is repeated throughout the book. There is a discussion about the start of the series, and discussion of episodes and the stars. There is also a section of trivia information that I wished had been longer, but for the most part, this book is mildly entertaining. The episode guide takes up most of the pages in the book, about which if you're a fan you know already and if you're just a casual reader, you couldn't care less. There are also short cast and crew biographies but this is overdone. Who cares about each and every little person that seemed to just pass by the Bewitched set? It is said that the author was "friends" with Elizabeth Montgomery, but her contributions are few and far between. Bill Asher's contributions are nice. With the upcoming Bewitched movie, it is clear to see that this was reissued to make some hay from that release. If you have a previous version, don't bother. If you get it as a fan, don't expect great things.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK, nice, June 4, 2005
This review is from: Bewitched Forever: 40th Anniversary Edition (Paperback)
An OK nice book, a little too much on the social commentary side. Facts and history of the show are sort of buried within author's personal ideas, viewpoints, stories etc. For someone just interested in the history of the series, it could have been clearer, more concise, more direct. But the author is very deeply, personally involved with the show, you can tell, so he devotes much thought to every nuance. Episode guide too long, bios took up too many pages, I mean I really didn't need or want to know about EVERY writer, or crew member. Seemed like some stuff was just put in to create pages.
