4.0 out of 5 stars Very good in parts, but lacking some important spells
I think this book is visually stunning, the photographs being both atmospheric and sensual and the composition of the text with the photography is excellent. I think Ms Hardie writes well and the spells are presented in an interesting and mystical way. The only complaint that I have is that there were not any spells which cater towards people with more abstract 'love'...

3.0 out of 5 stars Somewhat Letdown!
This book is beautiful, like all her others. The only thing it lacks is substance. The outside look cannot compensate for whats on the inside. I was somewhat disappointed with this book. Most spells were for couples that were already together, or spells that were already in previous books. Definitly nothing to write home about. There are a few useful things, but...

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good in parts, but lacking some important spells, July 6, 1999

This review is from: Bewitched: Titania's Book of Love Spells (Hardcover)
I think this book is visually stunning, the photographs being both atmospheric and sensual and the composition of the text with the photography is excellent. I think Ms Hardie writes well and the spells are presented in an interesting and mystical way. The only complaint that I have is that there were not any spells which cater towards people with more abstract 'love' problems. For instance, I would like to see a spell that aims at a reconcilliation with an old friend/lover. Most of the spells are not life changing spells, but rather simply aimed at 'improving' situations. I would have liked to see more 'radical' spells for those with an inclination for the unknow....

4.0 out of 5 stars Its a start!!, February 28, 1999
This review is from: Bewitched: Titania's Book of Love Spells (Hardcover)
When I saw Titania had published another book I literally ran to the book shop. This goes into more detail than Hocus Pocus about other ways to enhance your magic, its less of a simple summary, or the play around with magic train of thought. However the spells aren't really that varied - about 4 for showing your partner's true feelings but none for, for example, making someone you like notice you out of the blue etc. I absolutely love the binding of the book (it really stes the scene) but maybe focuses too much on making it simple, and shes a bit too weary of mentioning the religion. But its a nice, useful book, and the spells are reasonably effective.

4.0 out of 5 stars Seeing is believing!, August 3, 2000
This review is from: Bewitched: Titania's Book of Love Spells (Hardcover)
I bought Hocus Pocus because i was curious and soon after I bought Bewitched. Just like any other I was a little sceptic but I've tried a few spells and if you put your (true!) heart in to it, it certainly is effective! The two spells I love most is the nailfilings spell, to test the strength of your lovers affection and what also worked for me was the three woven ribbons to strengthen the bond. If you make the magic and the spells your own, it will work for you!

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful photographs, but lacking in some areas., April 9, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Bewitched: Titania's Book of Love Spells (Hardcover)
I picked it up, seeing as how the cover is so nice and the photos are beautiful. The only other love magick book I own is Love Magic by Laurie Cabot; and that remains my favourite love magick book simply because it packs in more information. Beautiful pictures do not make up for lack of substance.

Bewitched does certainly have its high points in terms of text; The color breathing section is new to me, and I believe self-love spells are always good to have on hand. The book is divided into six sections, the first being devoted to "attraction spells"; that is, attracting a nonspecific person who is right for you. Section 2, entitled "Two's Company", deals with "moving flirtations on into the realms of reality". These spells are somewhat drab, such as the manicure spell, which calls for mixing your nail filings into your sought-after lover's tea. Mmmm. Refreshing. ;)

"Three's a Crowd" offers solutions for when you cannot make up your mind between two lovers or when you cannot let go of a past relationship. These spells are practical and should help one out, if that is your predicament. If you are looking for a stronger commitment such as marriage, there are many spells to push it along; the next spell section deals with aphrodisiacs and potions for passion; and finally, the last chapter deals with keeping love fresh throughout a relationship.

Although Ms. Hardie covers a lot of ground in such a small book, I tend to get the impression that she rushed it a bit. Yes, most of the spells have some sort of nice-sounding authority to them, such as romany traditional spells, but none of them are really groundbreaking or offer any sort of substitution or personalization. If you really need a love spell and/or need to understand the ethics first, I would suggest buying Love Magic by Laurie Cabot or any book by Scott Cunningham, such as Earth Power. This book is wonderful if you already have a firm understanding of love magick, but I would not recommend it as a first book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Take What You Need & Leave the Rest!, July 9, 2002

This review is from: Bewitched: Titania's Book of Love Spells (Hardcover)
This is a book that is not, strictly speaking, politically correct, don't ya know. I don't care. I love it! It's whimsical, fun and clever. It's pretty (the hardcover edition has a red suede cover.) The witch who wrote it shares dozens of spells for the various aspects of love such as finding a lover, moving from flirtation to the next level, dealing with third parties, marriage, passion and long lasting relationships. The bright, beautiful and creative photographs that accompany each spell are inspiring. Love spells are very touchy business. Tampering with the free will of another is a huge NO-NO! Do not do it. A couple of these spells tippy-toe too close to tampering, so carefully use your own good judgment as in all things. I think this book is one of the best examples of the myriad uses of sympathetic magic and it offers some splendid ideas that can enable one's own creative juices to flow. It encourages concentration and creative visualization. It does use the word "enthrall" once in discussing a lover's attention which is perhaps a bad choice of words. Magic should NEVER EVER be used to enthrall anyone. It uses the term "white witchcraft" which I personally do not like, but all in all, the discussion of magical ideals and practices is quite sound in this book and even though I think it might have been devised to sell the trendy idea of "magical powers" and "love potions" to the uninitiated and uninformed masses, it does not change the fact that the author's demonstration of sympathetic magic is astute and very well illustrated in this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and Informative, July 16, 2009
I just Love this book and almost
have the complete set of Titania's many
magical gems. Yes, i am a fan!

Beautiful as well as informative,
they are some of my most treasured
books on Wicca.

More so, the quality of her books
are beyond compare and that illusive
quality called magic can be observed
as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book for lovers everywhere!, June 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Bewitched: Titania's Book of Love Spells (Hardcover)
Bewitched is a worthy successor to Hocus Pocus,a book which is a must for would be witches everywhere!

I imagine it will appeal primarily to women but boys, don't rule it out - it will not only help you with YOUR love lives but give you a valuable insight into what makes women tick!!!!

Just for your info, I found another Titania book called The Oraqle which is even better than Bewitched or Hocus Pocus - a kind of fortune telling book which is seriously addictive!!

There are a few useful things, but not worth buying the entire book. Find a friend that owns it, and a photo copier.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, just like all the rest!, June 22, 2000

This review is from: Bewitched: Titania's Book of Love Spells (Hardcover)
I own quite a few of Titania's books. Most are beautifully bound, like this one. This book offers a lot of insight along with alot of great spells that are easy to follow. The best thing I like is that most of the spells can be modified, so you don't necessarily have to worry about finding a certain ingredient. I have been very satisfied with this book and all of her others. Definitly something to add to your library.
