Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com essential video

Although one of them happens to be a witch, Darrin and Samantha Stephens are a typically adorable, normal 1960s sitcom couple--and so while Elizabeth Montgomery may be the star of Bewitched, it's the supporting players who tend to steal the shows. Samantha's cousin Serena (played beguilingly by Montgomery) sneaks into two episodes in this collection, even mischievously taking Samantha's place on a second honeymoon. The Stephens's nosy neighbor Gladys Kravitz (Sandra Gould) has perfect comic timing, always showing up at the worst possible moment. And, of course, what Bewitched episode would be complete without at least one derogatory remark from Endora (Agnes Moorehead)? This collection of six episodes, which includes the pilot, has all the sweet, silly, innocent mischief that (pardon the pun) bewitched viewers in the show's original run and have made it a staple of the rerun circuit. --Larisa Lomacky Moore

4.0 out of 5 stars Great content, terrible value, October 9, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Bewitched (3 VHS Boxed Set) / TV Show (VHS Tape)
Okay, Bewitched actually started and ended before I was born. I first caught old episodes on a cable channel many years after it was first on, and thought it was brilliant. Dick York was one of the greatest comedic talents of the 20th century. Thus, you would think that making classic episodes available on home video would get an instant *****, right? Well not if they need THREE VIDEOS FOR SIX EPISODES!!Why not just put one episode each on six different videos and charge double? What a ripoff. This is why I docked the one star from what would have otherwise been a perfect rating. In short, excellent, classic comedy, which is marred by the greedy format it is sold in.

This is a great fix for the Bewitched fan, without having to purchase each one individually. It's a great start to the collection!
