Book Description

Beyond 2012: Watch Where You’re Going may be the book that changes your life

In December 2012, the world learns the horrifying unimaginable: a reactor from a large hadron collider in Geneva, Switzerland has malfunctioned. Despite their frantic efforts, scientists are unable to control the damage and as a result, a black hole forms and it will begin to consume the earth; the world will be destroyed. Carter Dylan, his wife, Madison, his parents, and his three lifelong friends from Brighton, Mass. – George, Dennis and Yusef – see the news on TV–almost two weeks after the accident. Carter, Madison, Dennis, and Yusef decide to return home to spend the last days of their lives with their loved ones in Brighton, where George and their families still live. For two days they live it up in a quiet way, spending time with each other and hanging out at Murph’s, the pub where they had spent many hours together in their younger years. They reminisce about the many years of friendship that they’ve enjoyed and discuss their varying views on what might be waiting for them after the world ends. And then the inevitable happens. The earth begins vibrating and trembling. After 4.5 billion years, could this really be the end of our planet’s existence or is it a shift into a new age? Carter and his friends are about to discover what lies ahead.

There are several doomsday theories linked to 2012 that many say come from prophecies of ancient civilizations such as the Mayans and Hopi. Yet other theorists believe that perhaps powerful secret societies or aliens may be planning a new world order. Others have a more positive perspective and believe that humans may soon be entering a period of evolution that will impact our minds, increase our understanding of consciousness and propel us into a golden age. Why might the year 2012 be significant? Or is it just another year? Beyond 2012: Watch Where You’re Going is a fictional story, full of suspense and contemplation, that provides a glimpse into a possible situation that we might encounter someday as well as something that we must all face eventually – the end of our lives. Humans know so little about the universe, consciousness, spirituality and reality. It may only be when we deeply examine ourselves that we find the answers we are looking for in life. Do we know where we are going and why we are heading in the direction that we are? This may be one of the most important questions we could ask, yet few seldom stop to do so.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a fantastic quick read! June 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I picked this up the other day.. and it just captured my attention from the get go! Unlike many books that write about 2012! I was NOT expecting the superb tale that kept me flipping from one page to the next. The author did a fantastic job of bringing together a great many concepts that the public has been hearing about.. and added to that.. the CERN Large Hadron Collider! OMG.. what a wild concept! The "end of our Earth" in a way.. that most won't even think to put together!

I was also pleasantly surprised to find some lovely bible quotes. This book shows how simple faith.. the "end" is not the "end"! I truly enjoyed reading this from beginning to end. If you like a little reality mixed with some science fiction.. you will enjoy this book! I know.. I certainly did!

5.0 out of 5 stars What Really Matters When You Arrive Where You're Going? February 20, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
What happens after December 21, 2012? Nobody really knows. In this novel, Jaimy Mauricio explores some of the possibilities; along with the underlying social, spiritual, and theological implications. Our story centers on four men, friends from childhood: Dennis, Carter, Yusef, and George. "George bordered between agnostic and atheist. Yusef was Muslim, Dennis and Sam were Buddhists, and Carter and Madison were both Catholic. This wasn't the first time that they entered into a religious debate, but it would probably be the last." The end of the world is imminent. Despite their different backgrounds and religious beliefs, these four and their families share their final hours with one another, taking us on a thought-provoking journey examining what really matters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond 2012: Watch Where You're Going July 12, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
After glancing at the back cover and flipping quickly through the books' 150 pages I settled in for what I thought was going to be a quick, enjoyable beach read. Beyond 2012: Watch Where You are Going by Rhode Island author Jaimy Mauricio delivered that and so much more.

The setting is Boston, Massachusetts in December of 2012 and the world's population has just learned that a scientific experiment has resulted in a reactor malfunction which will result in the earth ending within two weeks time.

You will immediately enter and stay in the mind and heart of Carter Dylan, the story's main character as he travels with his loved ones on a physical and spiritual journey. Carter is the person we wish to be when we are faced with adversity. He is loving, compassionate, strong and a man of great faith. He lives these last weeks as he has lived his life, expressing gratitude for God, his family, and his friends.

While it is a story so well written that it will captivate your interest and can be read in a matter of hours, the lessons are plentiful and the text is rich. The book has earned a lasting place on my bookshelf. It is there for my summer visitors who simply wish to be entertained while enjoying the cape cod sand and surf. It is also available for me and those like me who seek something more and wish to contemplate their life and their life's purpose.

I have picked up the book dozens of times since completion to explore and to understand better how the messages of the Prophet Mohammed, Jesus Christ, and Buddha can help me to live my life on earth in peace and harmony and more importantly to help me to get where I want to go.

4.0 out of 5 stars The story is interesting April 19, 2013

Sometimes the explanations of 'the scientific things' can get you out of the story because they are related outside of the story.
