This book was a gift and was very enjoyable to read. The author obviously did extensive research to be able to offer such consice answers in the question and answer format. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to renew thier faith and refresh their Bible scholarship. Enjoy!

Marion William's excellent book "Beyond Adam & Eve" is a must-read for those looking to improve their cultural literacy in a lively, interesting way. Even if you are not a Christian or not religious, you cannot be considered educated in our society without some knowledge of the events and stories that occur in the Bible. Like basic references from Shakespeare, Biblical references crop all the time in our media, especially in literature. How many times have you heard a reference to Cain and Abel? Do you really know the story? What about the names of the Magi who brought gifts to the newborn Messiah? In fact, the Magi are not named in the Bible! If you read this book, you will be able to separate fact from fiction, or rather what's actually in the Bible vs. what has evolved through traditions or misconceptions. Some facts are just for fun, like learning the symbolism behind "The Twelve Days of Christmas", but an educated person in our society should know the significance of Passover and the story of Abraham.

This book is a good place to start. The information is presented in short vignettes, so you can easily start and stop the book when convenient. You can learn at your own pace and not be overwhelmed. For those who are believers, this book will offer you inspiration, both in its later chapters offering selected prayers and reflections, and in encouraging deeper study of the Bible. This book is a great way to jump in. So, jump!

This is an easy to read, very informative book. I keep mine in the car for those times I am waiting to pick up my kids or sitting in the doctors office. Not only am I refreshing my biblical knowledge when I have a few spare minutes but it helps me remember what's important in our busy, crazy lives. Its also a great conversation starter when you are riding in the car with your kids, especially teenagers who are facing so many difficult choices. A definite "add to you cart"!!!!
