This is the most spectacular book I've read in my entire life. This is not another book about the history of religions. This is the REAL truth about the origins of all religious beliefs, the making of all their foundations of faith and the big lie behind them.

Stunning, shocking, sensational, strange, revealing ... no matter the adjectives I use to describe this book. They all fall short to illustrate the facts documented in this awesome book.

You will need a strong heart and an open mind to understand and digest the stunning revelations described and documented in this book.

This book is a continuation of "A spell on all Their houses" to which I had described as "Probably the best discussion of the world's religions available". This is even better. More information, more shocking facts, more misconceptions, more twisted ideas, enforced truths and maliciously distorted facts. More revelations for many of us, too.

Do you want to know how forged and manipulated are the "facts" that your church makes you believe just "by faith"? Please, discover it by yourselft in this book.

Did you know that there are dozens of "prophets" born on December 25, from a virgin mother, visited by "wise men" at birth? Did you know that all of them were crucified and then resurrected? Did you believe all this time Jesus was the first and the only one? If you want to know the facts, read this book.

Is amazing how through the years we have been fooled by the religious leaders around the world. It is almost unthinkable that very few have had the audacity to doubt what we were taught.

While I give this book an 'E' for effort, the other books quoted within it offer much deeper insights on the topic(s), especially those by Tony Bushby. There are a number of typos. All-in-all, a nice try.

As the book clearly states, you need a very open mind when you read this book. This is a very fact filled book & if you know more about religion than the average person, many truths are revealed as you read backed by historical facts.
It does not put religion down in any way, but gives the reader proof throughout history that some of the things that the churches have taught could be wrong.
Very well written & backed up with with facts that will give the reader with the open mind a new way of thinking about many religions from around the world.

This is one of those books that you may read all of a sudden, hidden trues, forbidden issues and winds of change make it absolutely indispensable for the genuine searchers of light. Bold enough to share, in spite of the consequences, I do encourage everyone to take a close look at it, nothing will continue to be the same.

This is best of the best. It makes you want to learn more of this fantasy land called religion. It's short, dense and to the point. Great research material and compelling enough that I did not need a break. Jolie in Mpls

This is the best, most condensed book ever. All the "critical thinking" overrides all other religions. I'm a "secular humanist", and this is the most "rational, skeptical, objective" book.

A Great Read...What Samuel Butler says about religions is so true.I Highly recommend this book! More people have died in vain because of a narrow minded religious view then in all the wars combined.Stop the Insanity! Read this book and enlighten yourself.

Judging from Mr. Butler's profile, he is eminently qualified to answer any real estate question you might throw his way. How that would qualify him to discuss the history of religion is anyone's guess. Most of this is recycled nonsense from the bottom rung of anti-Christian websites. I am not talking about intellectual skeptical websites or anything that might resemble competent scholarship but rather the websites that normally talk about reptilian space aliens and throw in some anti-Christian stuff as a side dish. So how bad is it? Let me give you an example.

Butler thinks the Gospels were written about 325 AD by Constantine and his henchman (probably including Eusebius). As evidence he claims there are no copies of these documents before the fourth century. In fact, he states "the Catholic Encyclopedia itself supports the thesis that the Gospels of Christianity were written no earlier than the 4th Century". As evidence of this he quotes it stating "the earliest of the extant manuscripts [of the New Testament], it is true, do not date back beyond the middle of the fourth century AD." So what of this supposed find by Mr. Butler?

First off, the Catholic Encyclopedia did not support the claim that the Gospels were written no earlier than the fourth century. Rather, it states that the earliest available manuscripts (when the encyclopedia was published in 1907) was from the fourth century. In fact, the quote is a "quotemine" that ignored the second half of the sentence.
