5.0 out of 5 stars Constructive advice for bringing change into the Church, July 19, 2002
By
Luisa Calderón (Metepec, Edo.Mex. Mexico) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Beyond Anger: On Being a Feminist in the Church (Paperback)
As a feminist Sacred Heart alumnae just the name of the book held promise. When I read it I was not disappointed. Sr. Osiek speaks about my experience, she expresses both my frustration and anger at the flawed human institution that causes women so much pain, and my deep love for the mystical body of Christ which is the Catholic (universal) Church. For christian feminists that choose to remain in the Church in order to bring about it's conversion from the sin of patriarchy, the path left is the way of the Cross, because in overcoming our passivity and complicity with our own oppression we will bring on to us the persecution of the powerful that Christ himself encountered. But in sharing the Cross we will also share in the Resurrection. We will someday see equality in the Church.
