5.0 out of 5 stars All Aerosmith Fans Should Read This Book, May 15, 2007
This review is from: Beyond Beautiful (The Song Trilogy) (Perfect Paperback)
I totally agree with the other reviewer. Scott the main character is totally Steven Tyler. This book will take you "backstage" into the life of two rock stars. You follow them on a journey as they fall in love and deal with some heavy issues. This book has everything love, music, suspense, sex, romance, and more sex ;) . You will fall in love with the characters in this book! If you love Aerosmith, rock music, or are just a romance novel enthusiast you will love this book. I can't wait to see what will happen next in this trilogy!

4.0 out of 5 stars BookHounds [...], October 19, 2010

This review is from: Beyond Beautiful (The Song Trilogy) (Perfect Paperback)
This romance series follows Jenna and Scott, both stars in their own right through a turbulent love affair with all of the trappings of life on the road. You get to be back stage and view life on the road from these two who make music for a living. I have to say that the series seems to accurately depict this lifestyle of two more mature rock stars. Scott is over his hell-raising days and ready to settle down, while Jenna is not sure about what she wants until she ends up pregnant by a NFL player. Discovering her maternal instincts and then losing the baby while reunited with Scott causes both of them to reevaluate their lifestyles.

Of course, there are the usual set back with unstable groupies, band politics and the nonstop lifestyle, the two make an awesome pair. The writing makes you want to read every word and there are enough little twists and turns to keep it interesting. My favorite characters are actually two minor ones: Linda, Jenna's mom and Joe, Scott's Dad. Joe has some of the best wise cracking in the whole book. They both provide stability to the crazy lifestyle that their children live. My only complaint about their books is that the covers seem dated.

4.0 out of 5 stars An Insightful Look Into The Hearts And Minds Of The Rich And Famous, May 4, 2009
By
This review is from: Beyond Beautiful (The Song Trilogy) (Perfect Paperback)
With music flowing through her veins since birth, Jenna finally achieves her lifelong dream of becoming a successful rock musician. At the height of her career, she enjoys immense popularity, wins numerous awards, and gains worldwide acclaim. Despite all her material success, though, love remains elusive for Jenna - that is, until Scott crosses her path. A noted musician in his own right, Scott immediately falls head over heels for Jenna, and she feels a strong attraction for him as well. The only problem? He's still married, and she's involved with someone else.

Nonetheless, neither Jenna nor Scott can deny their feelings for one another, and when Jenna tragically loses her father, Scott rushes to be by her side, ultimately solidifying the ties that bind them. Just when all appears to be going well, though, Jenna suffers a horrific car accident that causes her to lose a baby that she had previously conceived with her former lover. In the devastating wake of her loss, Jenna and Scott try their best to keep their burgeoning love alive, but the constant bombardment of outside interference, media attention, and hidden secrets revealed present a series of increasingly difficult challenges for them to overcome.

Skillfully crafted and engaging, Beyond Beautiful provides the reader with a piercing look into the dark underbelly of the world of fame and celebrity. In their rush to idolize the icons of the entertainment industry, many people tend to forget that musicians, actors, athletes, and other popular figures are just as human as the rest of us - flaws, insecurities, and all. In Beyond Beautiful, Jan Bornstein successfully pulls back the curtain of illusion in relating Jenna and Scott's all-too-human story, and it is an emotional rollercoaster of love, heartbreak, and ultimate triumph that will inspire and entertain.

Strongly recommended for its insightful, refreshing take on reality, Beyond Beautiful is a compelling, rewarding read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond GOOD!!, June 22, 2007
This review is from: Beyond Beautiful (The Song Trilogy) (Perfect Paperback)
This is a must read for anyone who loves Rock and Roll or a great love story.

This was a great summer read. I was so captivated by the story and the characters were so real! This was one of the best books I have picked up in a long time. Looking forward to reading part two to see what happens to these two and the people around them.

It was refreshing to read a book with some Boston/New England roots. Keep at it, Boston can be as fun, sexy and interesting as NY, LA and London.

5.0 out of 5 stars Romance, Intrigue, and Trauma, January 9, 2007
This review is from: Beyond Beautiful (The Song Trilogy) (Perfect Paperback)
First time author, Jan Bornstein takes the reader on a roller coaster ride in this fictional account of life in the fast lane in the music and entertainment industry. Jan has crafted a composite of star quality celebrities in her main characters, rock stars Jenna Bradford and Scott Tenny. "Beyond Beautiful" the first in "The Song Trilogy" details a year in the life of Jenna and Scott.

A well balanced mix of romance and suspense keeps this absorbing plot moving from page one to the final climax, leaving the reader eager for the upcoming sequel. Deceitful relationships, selfish goals, unresolved issues from the past all add to the difficulty Jenna and Scott are faced with in their struggle to build a relationship of love and trust. A police investigation, physical and psychological trauma, and a predatory press add to the insurmountable pressure faced by Jenna and Scott.

Bornstein is able to convey to the reader the beat of the music, and the perfection of the musicians and song writers. She has the ability to reveal a progression of growth from a shallow one dimensional character to caring, sensitive, believable personalities creating an empathy with the reader.

If you enjoy suspense, drama, and romance you will enjoy "Beyond Beautiful."

4.0 out of 5 stars You will totally enjoy this book, December 31, 2006
This review is from: Beyond Beautiful (The Song Trilogy) (Perfect Paperback)
Reviewed by Cherie Fisher for Reader Views (6/08)

First time author Jan Bornstein's book "Beyond Beautiful" is a real winner. This book has it all; glamour, suspense, drama and fictional stories about the rich and famous. I was immediately drawn into the story and did not put it down until the end. I cannot wait to see what else is in store for the characters in the other two books of the trilogy.

Jenna Bradford appears to have born with a silver spoon in her mouth. Daughter of a highly successful movie executive, Jenna has become famous in her own right as a rock star. Beautiful, talented and smart, she has it all when mega star rocker Scott Tenny walks into her life. When he approaches her with interest in pursuing a relationship, Jenna walks away because she does not want to get involved with someone who is going through a divorce. Months later, after a failed relationship and the death of a family member, Jenna meets up with Scott again. She recognizes that this is something special and starts a relationship with him.

This should be the best time of Jenna and Scott's life as they fall in love. But an accident that leads to tragedy causes Jenna to start having reoccurring nightmares that seem very real. As they try to get to the root of the problem, the story that unfolds is horrific as Jenna is forced to face pure evil. Scott proves himself over and over again as Jenna tries to reconcile her past and present while living in a fishbowl as the press pursue her relentlessly.

The author really has an excellent grasp of the human psyche and does a wonderful job of tying emotions and feelings into the story. If you enjoy a good romance, suspense or stories about the rich and famous, you will totally enjoy "Beyond Beautiful." I cannot wait to see what Jan Bornstein comes up with in the second book of the trilogy "Sweet Emotions".
