5.0 out of 5 stars beyond better
This is an incredible CD. These two handsome, intelligent, creative, talented men, (regardless of who their father is), have created an album that transcends a full array of musical styles. From the exceedingly cathcy "Cold Fingers" to the sensitive "I'm over and I know it", to the brilliant "Healthy and Handsome", these brothers...

I hate to say it. I guess I'm showing my age, but I prefer the Dad's work (Jimmy Webb). Of course, some of his early recordings didn't reflect his absolute talent, so I'll keep looking.

From the exceedingly cathcy "Cold Fingers" to the sensitive "I'm over and I know it", to the brilliant "Healthy and Handsome", these brothers surpass single style music. They show their musical range from start to finish. After hearing this CD, I was lucky enough to hear them live. It doesn't get better than this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gloomy bliss, November 14, 2009
This review is from: Beyond the Biosphere (Audio CD)
Why these fellas aren't bigger I have no idea. This album is sad, full of flangy guitars and and great harmonies and just the kinda stuff you want to wallow in on a grey saturday afternoon. The opening strums just sum it up. Blang bla blang blang blang blang .... and then a build-up, drums, there's a plan. Fantastic. And as somebody said, they get away with using the word "biosphere" in a song and they pull it off. Brilliant, guys. Please play in Chicago soon. Don't be misled by the terrible cover art and raygun space theme. This isn't about space or science fiction. It's about girls. If the Liars Club stuff was their reflection on druggy debauchery in Chitown, this is a more wisened couple of guys still perturbed by the chicas. I'd pay a hundred dollars for this album if I had no other option. It's that good.

But worth every penny. An amazing album recorded on a shoestring budget, Biosphere is both spacey yet rocking, smart yet accessible. You have to hear it to believe it.

Also check out their album "Maroon," which was produced by Stephen Street (The Smiths, etc.)
