I'm a Michael Port fan. Loved Book Yourself Solid, however this book did little to expand on the concept.

To summarize this book,

~Do what it takes to reach them
~Franchise yourself

I kept his first book, this book I'm selling after reading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Read. Think. Act. NOW, April 7, 2008
Beyond Booked Solid is the next step in the journey for entrepreneurs. This isn't your ordinary business book. In fact, it's much more. This work is about getting you to take a step back and really look at what's going on inside of you. It provides you with ideas and concepts that will help you to adopt the mindset you need to create a business that fits with your highest vision, your heart's dream, and your mission in life. Port presents many valuable principles that are necessary to embrace in order to take your business to the next level -- one that's integrated with your values and aspirations and scaled to whatever level you desire.

Michael writes, "What's it all for, all this right attitude, business architecture, and systems? What is your destiny, inside and outside your business? If you serve others, but don't serve your own destiny, things are going to fall apart." No truer words have ever been written. This book will help you to start thinking differently -- in a new direction. He'll present you with business growth models that are going to save you time, money, and energy, and most importantly, allow you to find your freedom while living your bliss. It's more about integration - of your higher self with your business -- your business being the delivery vehicle for fully expressing the former.

Beyond Book Solid will require more than one read. The concepts he presents are many, the ideas are big, and you'll need the time to allow them to sink in and take on a meaning that fits with who you are and what you want to accomplish in the world.

As I turned the last page of the book, I did feel changed. In fact, I sat down and outlined some plans to move my own business in a new, bigger, and bolder direction. This book will get you thinking. It's not as much about the words in the book, the diagrams, and the questions for further exploration. Instead, its about getting you to consider possibilities -- of doing things differently, of re-examining what you're doing, and why, and how. The value of the book is how you apply it to your life and your business. It will get you thinking and from there, it's up to you to put it into action. Read the book, think about it, and go make it happen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great concepts, light on action steps, December 29, 2008

I loved Book Yourself Solid and liked how practical it was. This book was still a very valuable read, but some of his terminology could have been used more clearly, and I wish that he's provided better take-aways as to specific actions readers can take right now after reading this book.

I'd recommend this book if you want to think about yourself and your business differently, but if you are in the mood to actually take some step by step actions right now, save this book for when you are in a contemplative or planning phase of your business.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Sequel, April 20, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Michael Port's first book, Book Yourself Solid, was a terrific book. His latest is even better.

There is so much to like about this book. It is refreshing to see an author stretch himself by writing a sequel that is a real extension to the predecessor. So many authors churn out books regurgitating that they have previously said. This book truly goes "beyond" his earlier book. Kudos, Michael Port, for being a true sequel writer.

A second strength is the very thoughtful order in which this new material is presented. The table of contents alone has great value as a checklist for business success. And, the case studies placed at the end to reinforce the learning points presented in the book was a great idea.

A third strength is the beautiful balance between sound business advice and worthwhile personal advice. As one that so believes the quality of one's business is a reflection of the quality of one's life, the author is to be congratulated for bridging the gap between business and personal attitude.

A fourth strength is the quality of the advice offered. Having spent 25+ years as a business consultant, I am frequently appalled at the quality of advice given in books aimed at the same market as this one. I found not one point that I would debate in the 200 pages. Not a single one.

I could go on and on. But, suffice it to say that I strongly recommend this book as a foundational philosophy for any entrepreneur, as well as for professionals in the large professional service organizations (e.g., law firms, accounting firms, etc.). Although the book was seemingly not targeted for the latter group, I believe that professionals in large firms could benefit by adopting Port's philosophies.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Brilliant Read!, April 11, 2008
I had the privilege of hearing Michael speak on Booked Solid last year at the NSA convention in San Diego. Booked beyond solid has been a great follow up read to his dynamic presentation. Michael has woven into this piece of work ideas from some other great minds (Seth Godin and Timothy Ferriss), real life experiences, and best practices. He underpins all of this with a proven system that will aid you in designing a business that works with and for you. He masterfully lays out a plan for helping you design a business that will deliver profits while allowing you time to embark on your personal endeavors.

My coaching clients will have this as required reading starting next week.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for taking my business to the next level, May 14, 2008
First, let me just say that I've implemented the information in Book Yourself Solid - Michael's first book - into my business over the past six months, and I'm still doing so everyday. The results have been phenomenal. So much so, that we're now much more selective with the types of clients we're working with and the type of work we're doing. That sort of focus and deliberateness just wasn't present in our business before discovering Michael's book and his coaching sessions.

Of course, I was wondering what to do as I started to get more work than I could handle. "Beyond Booked Solid" provides the answers. Continuing with the lessons from his first book, Michael teaches you in a well-written and easily accessible way how to build an architecture for your business and implement systems that truly do free you to think much bigger about your business. I can actually see - based on the work I'm doing from the exercises in the book - that it's OK to take me out of the equation of the day-to-day operations so that I can focus on the other aspects of my life that are important to me - most notably spending time with my wife and kids and doing the sort of things I love to do. In this day and age, there really is no excuse for an entrepreneur to spend 12 hours a day slaving away on jobs that others can do better and more efficiently. Michael teaches you to identify those areas, develop systems to handle those and encourages you to get a life.

In fact, I'm finding that while Booked Yourself Solid was sort of a nuts and bolts to marketing and growing your business in your own unique way, Beyond Booked Solid presents a more holistic approach to business as it relates to your life and quality of living. Now that you've got the thriving business, this book shows you how to create the systems and practices to make your entrepreneurial endeavor ever more viable and valuable while at the same time crafting the life you've always wanted.

I'd highly recommend both books.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Book Within a Book, May 19, 2008
By
Even though I don't have a copy of "Book Yourself Solid" I followed my intuition and decided to purchase "Beyond Booked Solid" about 10 days ago and so glad I did. One reason for my thinking was if I found some of your suggestions helpful in "Beyond Booked Solid," it would probably free me more to become booked solid.

What I want to pass on is:
1. I did buy your book and it's loaded with great suggestions and questions to help me (and other readers) take the actions I need to achieve better results and think bigger, without a doubt. I'm really enjoying and finding value from your content.
2. I love the workbook. It's very useful and a way to help me and other readers implement the ideas you present in a useful, reader-friendly format.
3. Here's the kicker Michael that you made this user-friendly workbook available to the reader for free and as an instant download. Michael this free workbook is truly a gift and tremendous added value to those who purchase your book. Thank you! It was such a pleasant surprise and I'm getting so much more from your book as a result of this workbook. This really was an unexpected gift, I had no idea about it when I purchased your book, only as I started to read through it.

Thanks for a great book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Helpful Ideas for Creating Structure for your Business, December 6, 2008
There are two BIG things I like about this book. First, that it talks about ways in which you can create a sustainable business - how to go from exchanging your time for money, to leveraging others' abilities to take your business to the next level. The second thing I like is the focus on creating sustainable systems throughout your business. Sustainability is the key to making your business last beyond personal burnout.

More than a worthy read, this book should be used to inspire HOW you run your business. Don't just read the book, use it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond Booked Solid, May 31, 2008
M Port fills in the spaces from his first book "Book Yourself Solid" while adding numerous new comments and suggestions that really add value to the experience.

Although "Beyond Booked Solid" can be a stand-alone read, I suggest that to get the most from the experience you read both books.

Both books are part of my collection of business books that I refer to regularly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond Belief, May 9, 2008
If you read Booked Solid and now find yourself swamped with too much work at the end of day or you are simply an entrepreneur or sales focused business owner without an angle for designing systems and processes you know you must have, then this book is required reading. As usual Michael's openness and honesty about the systems he uses for business and for life and the detail he puts in the book is a welcome change from many other publications.
