Editorial Reviews

Following up the 20th anniversary edition of their landmark #1 album Far Beyond Driven,, Pantera are continuing the celebration with the upcoming vinyl release Far Beyond Bootleg- Live From Donington '94. The live show was included on the second disc of the Far Beyond Driven reissue and is now available on LP for the first time, just one day prior to the show s 20th anniversary.
The show captures the band - singer Philip Anselmo, guitarist Dimebag Darrell, bassist Rex Brown and drummer Vinnie Paul in top form, shredding through nine songs in 40 minutes. Recorded at the Monsters of Rock Festival in Donington, England on June 4, 1994.

Just a few months prior to the Donington show, Pantera had reached a major milestone when the legendary metal band s seventh studio album, Far Beyond Driven, debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200, becoming the fastest-selling album of the group s career and its second consecutive platinum release. Far Beyond Driven remained on the Billboard album chart for seven more months and many still regard it as the heaviest album to ever top the chart.

1.0 out of 5 stars worst vinyl pressing ever! August 16, 2014
By Matt

I am a huge pantera fan and this vinyl is a huge disappointment! The sound quality of this vinyl is terrible... its amazingly terrible...worst vinyl pressing I have ever heard. After hearing this album, I read the back of the sleeve and it says how this album is intended for "historical purpose" not sound quality... thats bs! Come on amazon let us know this before we buy it! I returned my copy and as usual amazon customer service was on point and refunded me no problem. Do yourself a favor and buy the cd version.

1.0 out of 5 stars It sounds like total crap July 9, 2014

I understand that it is a "bootleg" recording, but they could have at least tried to produce the record to listening standards. It sounds like total crap!

Killer set list, clearly razor sharp and at the top of their game instrumentally speaking, but the recording is definitely lacking. I didn't know much about this and bought it because I'm a big Pantera fan. I assumed the 'bootleg' part was just a title and surely this was a professional recording possibly taken from the soundboard.

I was definitely wrong. The recording sounds like it was recorded on a really nice handheld device of some sort by someone standing behind the band on stage. There is practically no bass presence on this recording of any kind either from Rex or Vinny. You'll still dig this if you're a big fan like myself, but someone who might just be getting into Pantera would surely be turned off by the lack of meat the audio carries on this release.

Pantera is a great metal/thrash band and I have seen them in concert many times(6) like the songs and I know it is a "Bootleg" sounds good from others. My only concern it came warped. Not warped enough to play but I guess it is a hit or miss or the hot summer days? Other than that I am going to keep it and add it to my collection.
