5.0 out of 5 stars Well written. Easy to follow, June 5, 2007

If your looking a good solid bodybuilding training program, this is a great book. There's nothing really special about the program but it's all laid out for you. If you can't or don't want to develop your own program or pay a personal trainer, this is a good book for you. It has workouts for beginners, intermediate, and advanced bodybuilders. You can't go wrong following the program in this book. Again, it's nothing special but is a good buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book to learn from, February 14, 2010

This review is from: Beyond Built: Bob Paris' Guide to Achieving the Ultimate Look (Paperback)
I bought this book after I had watched one of the Jay Cutlers bodybuilding videos and he said that he had read this book and it really helped him when he got started in bodybuilding, so I figured it would be a good book to start with. I've been lifting for about 4-5 years but had never really any clue what I was doing as well as what kind of diet I needed in order to achieve results that I wanted. This book put alot of things in perspective for me. This book explained how to do the exercises, nutrition, grooming, posing and he even gives individual routines for every body part. I loved this book I learned its not about how much you lift, its about how you lift. Leave ego at the door. I started his routines 3 weeks ago (from today) and have noticed some strength and muscle gains. His routines do work, if done right.

The reason this book didn't receive 5 stars is because there were still a few questions I had after reading it. I also felt the book kind of skipped around and left alot out of specific sections. In one section he gives you a back routine but leaves out the rep-ranges. Luckily his system is easy to extrapolate from and incorporate into other routines so it wasn't too much of a pain to figure out. Other than that I find myself constantly referring back to this book when I have a question or need guidance. I plan on buying his other book "Flawless."

5.0 out of 5 stars Timeless information, December 17, 2009

For anyone who wants to get it right, this book nails it from technique to nutrition with a great deal of motivation thrown in on practically every page. If the reader is a beginner wanting to just get a few muscles to shape up or wanting to become a serious bodybuilder, what Bob has to say from genuine experience is spot on. Bob's philosophy as to what a perfect body looks like would not win any competition today because he would never accept the freaky disproportionate sizes needed to win, the solid foundation of body building taught in this book is there for anyone. This is the complete book.
