Outstanding Suspense - Very Clever TWISTS and TURNS - HOT!!!,
By
This review is from: Beyond Control (Beyond, Book 1) (Mass Market Paperback)
When billionaire Leonard Hamilton summoned journalist Jordan Walker to his home, Jordan made sure he'd done his homework. He was prepared having done as thorough a background research on the reclusive philanthropist as humanly possible, but nothing could have prepared him for the life altering discoveries he would soon make once he'd accepted the job and started investigating the `alleged accidental death' of the billionaire's son.
While delving into the investigation Jordan obtained an invitation to a senator's party where he was instantly aware of a beautiful brunette. Never one to actively pursue the opposite sex the intense attraction was extraordinary as it heightened his senses in a most peculiar way. The object of Jordan's scrutiny, Lindsay Fleming, aide to a powerful senator, was also keenly aware of Jordan in much the same way. When they were introduced to one another and touched hands, the effect was instantaneous and it seemingly opened each other's minds to one another - a very scary situation for both parties who had never met before that day! The connection was stronger than anything each had ever felt, and as they came to explore the bond and similar feelings further, they became embroiled in a massive government cover-up of murder, mind-control and biological warfare. Racing against time, they had to forge their new-found telepathic bond; a bond that would only grow stronger with their complete sexual surrender in order to save themselves and uncover a deadly government conspiracy. ____ WOW! This was certainly one very hot, steamy, mind boggling and exciting suspense thriller. I loved the concept of finding a soul mate who was so telepathically connected with you that there was no need to vocalize. You name it, this book has it including some very snappy dialogs combined with an absolutely riveting tale of suspense and a love match between two people who had to overcome personal conflicts in working hard to an understand of their extraordinary connection. This was a very well written and skillfully executed tale with well-developed characters, stunning sensuality and some clever twists. A truly dynamic, can't put it down, read! --- Marilyn, for www.suspenseromancewriters.com ---

Please tell me this is the start of a new series!,
This review is from: Beyond Control (Beyond, Book 1) (Mass Market Paperback)
I've been reading Rebecca York's books for a while, and she just keeps getting better and better. The suspense and the romance in Beyond Control are balanced perfectly, with each unfolding at the same pace and with the same intensity.
It's a story of two people uncovering a conspiracy that dates back to their own births, and it's a story of two people who've spent their entire lives alone, set apart from other people because of their psychic abilities, finding an intimacy that's deeper than they could ever have imagined, and coming to terms with it. The good: The suspense. I spent a lot of this book on the edge of my seat. The secondary characters. They're all well-developed, and understandable. The love scenes. Well-written and HOT!--the psychic connection worked very well. The way the many threads of the book meshed seamlessly. The bad: You do have to read the first couple of chapters carefully to keep all the characters straight, but it's more than worth it. The truly excellent: The intensity and honesty of the emotions between the main characters. The verdict: An absolute keeper that I'll read again and again.

This review is from: Beyond Control (Beyond, Book 1) (Mass Market Paperback)
Ms. York offeres readers edge of your seat reading with the paranormal/suspense read.
Jordan Walker is a respected journalist and he has just been offered a the chance of a lifetime when a millionaire requests that he investigate the death of his son in exchange for all rights to his biography. Jordan realizes that there is more to this than meets the eye and when he starts his investigation he finds out just how right he was, and just how dangerous his new investigation is for more than one reason. It leads to government secrets and to Lindsay Fleming a woman that has Capitol Hill connections that could help him in his search for the truth. Lindsay is special for another reason. They have a very special connection. One that neither of them can forget or ignore. They are destined for each other but first they must survive the upcoming investigation. Secrets will be exposed, people will be killed and Jordan and Lindsay will be right in the middle of it all. This was a very fast paced read that blew this reader away with it's creativity and sensuality between Jordan and Lindsay. Ms. York has become an automatic read for me and an author that offeres reads with entertaining twists and turns. As a result the reader will never be bored here. Pretty Good!,
By GinRobi (Timmins, ON, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Beyond Control (Beyond, Book 1) (Mass Market Paperback)
The main characters were pretty amazing, adapting to the whole thing quite quickly. Jordan, an investigative journalist, seeks the help of Lindsay, who works for a U.S. senator, in digging for the truth about a secret lab, secret drugs, and the reason why key people are dead. With one touch, they unlock a force between them, a telepathic connection that gets stronger with every touch. Soon they can do things that other 'normal' humans can't. And both want to know why this is happening.
It's great to see both characters develope, how they feel about one another. The plot unfolds, action and suspense abound, a great first novel.

Good writing, but overdone concept,
By
This review is from: Beyond Control (Beyond, Book 1) (Mass Market Paperback)
Beyond Control was a mediocre paranormal romance. The same concept of two people with a telepathic connection linked with sexual tendencies has been done before, and frankly a lot better. Probably the best book I've read with that topic was MIMOSA GROVE, by Dinah McCall. Maybe if I had read this one before that, I would have thought differently about it. It was not a bad read, but there really was little to the story line and no great twists or surprise ending. Not even a reveal of any kind. It just kind of died off and was fairly non-climactic. I hate to say something so negative about this book when it was okay, but it just didn't do it for me. Is it worth the money to buy? Possibly. If you are into the sci-fi paranormal, sord of X-files story and like a lot of heated sex to your romance, than you will probably enjoy this book. As far as the plot goes, read it with an open mind and don't expect too much. That way, you won't be dissappointed. If you can find this book for under five bucks, you should be fine with it.

Great new series from Rebecca York,

Whether a fan of Ms. York's or just looking for a new twist on the modern-day romance, this new series is great.
Set in power circles of Washington D.C., an investigative journalist and a Capitol Hill worker decide to work together to solve the mysterious death of the son of a wealthy power broker. While still featuring some traditionally York features - powerful sex, mind connections, intrigue - this is also a new direction for her. I really enjoyed this first book, and I can't wait for the next book, Beyond Fearless.

Paranormal romantic suspense is a hot commodity, and no one does it better than Rebecca York. With BEYOND CONTROL, we get a no-holds-barred suspense tale, filled with the danger and excitement that such a story entails. We also get a paranormal story, with a hero and heroine who invade each other's dreams, can communicate with a touch, and whose need for physical contact almost turns into an obsession. And, of course, we get the sexual intensity that Ms. York is known for, with all the sensuality that includes.
Journalist Jordan Walker believes he's taken on the story of his career when elusive billionaire Leonard Hamilton offers him the chance to write a totally authorized biography. Jordan at once feels that the deal is too good to be true, and in a way, he's right. Hamilton will give him his story, but in return he wants Jordan to investigate the suspicious death of his son, Todd. Hamilton is sure Todd was murdered, and even though there's circumstantial proof to the contrary, Jordan knows that he'll have to use every investigative tool in his power if he wants to get Leonard Hamilton's biography published. When he contacts congressional staffer Lindsay Fleming, Jordan reassures himself that it's only to use her contacts to get close to Senator Conroy. Jordan 's sure that if he can question the Senator, he can find out exactly what happened in the boating accident that took the life of Todd Hamilton and his alleged boyfriend, Glenn Borrow. Not to mention that Jordan wants information on the reclusive and highly secretive facility known as Maple Creek, which Todd and Glenn had broken into shortly before their deaths. Suddenly, though, getting answers to his questions isn't nearly as unsettling as the power that sparks between him and Lindsay at Senator Conroy's party. One touch is all it takes for Jordan and Lindsay to begin invading each other's dreams. That touch produced nearly literal sparks, and now the need for them to touch, to be close, to be in contact with one another, is nearly a physical ache. Lindsay has no idea what's happening, but she knows that helping Jordan Walker in his investigation has suddenly made her a target-for a killer. Now Jordan and Lindsay are in danger, not only from the obsession to be together, but from a brother and sister who share the same bond, and are intent on getting rid of them before they can disclose what really happened to Todd Hamilton on Chesapeake Bay . Rebecca York has woven a web of danger, intrigue, and passion that you're not soon to forget. Beyond the relationship of Jordan and Lindsay, past the passion that they create together, is a plain old suspense story that is imaginative and scary-the best in romantic suspense.

Rebecca York Just Gets Better!,
This review is from: Beyond Control (Beyond, Book 1) (Mass Market Paperback)
Reclusive billionaire Leonard Hamilton taps prizewinning investigative reporter Jordan Walker to write the definitive Hamilton biography. Full cooperation from the billionaire is assured with just one catch: Walker must first investigate the puzzling, accidental death of Hamilton's son. As his investigation begins, Jordan attends a senator's party and spies a captivating brunette. With one look, the normally isolated Walker feels an immediate sexual and emotional connection to congressional staffer Lindsay Fleming. When his hand grasps her wrist, their barriers drop, and they are drawn into each other's minds. Shaken by the intense telepathic connection, Lindsay retreats, leaving both feeling more alone than ever.
Jordan must see her again. He needs her help with his investigation and is compelled to probe their intimate link further. Overwhelmed, yet intrigued by this mysterious connection, the couple explores their union. Lindsay and Jordan discover that a total sexual surrender strengthens their telepathic bond and cultivates new powers. The couple race to hone their newfound skills while uncovering a massive government conspiracy involving murder, mind control, psychic gifts, biological warfare, and genetic engineering. I thoroughly enjoyed Ms. York's previous books in the the Moon series. With Beyond Control she reaches a new intensity that drew me in and would not let go. The idea of two lonely, solitary people discovering an ultra-human bond that is profoundly sexual, yet so much more, resonated with me. Seeing Lindsay and Jordan deal with the conflict between their former isolation and their new closeness was compelling. Even so, their relationship is not the only story. At first it seems as if there are several unrelated threads. However, as the story unfolds, these well-developed threads are joined seamlessly into a extremely hot, sensual, exciting, and energetic suspense thriller. Beyond Control is a sensational read! Is there anything Rebecca York can't do?,
By
This review is from: Beyond Control (Beyond, Book 1) (Mass Market Paperback)
I have read Rebecca York for years now and am constantly surprised at her own ability to move into new areas with such confidence and control-- no pun intended but while I loved all the "Moons" and alpha male werewolf mates -- Beyond Control takes the reader into a new zone -- compellingly.
As usual, Rebecca York creates her own unique vintage of telepathic slow build into suspense between characters -- and I found myself mesmerized and wondering -- which is exactly what I look for in a good read -- What next Rebecca York? Amazin'!

My first York - incredible,
This review is from: Beyond Control (Beyond, Book 1) (Mass Market Paperback)
I've looked into Rebecca York for a while, but I'm not much into werewolves and vampires, so I shied away. BUT I was in Borders the other day and couldn't resist the pull BEYOND CONTROL had on me. And I'm glad I gave into temptation. I couldn't put it down! The story flowed, stayed fast-paced. The characters were real, fallible and communicated with psychic powers they truly discovered when they met. The romance is hot, the suspense thrilling. This book is a keeper. And it's definitely worth full price.
